One of my favourite outdoor spaces and right in the middle of the city. There are various access points to the Baaken's Valley, but I chose this one today. The Lower Guinea Fowl trail is part of Settler's Park and a beautiful space to just get out into nature. Bird and butterfly life abound and the early morning bush smells are enough to make you feel grounded. Coupled with a brisk walk, it's a great opportunity to get those endorphins going. There are always concerns about safety in the valley: go in a group of 3 or more, having said that, safety has improved hugely and I have never felt unsafe here, or seen criminal elements etc.
The trails are well maintained, and there is an abundance of birdlife and greenery.
