St James Restaurant, Walmer — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

Usually going to St James service has never been top prioty. Waiting time for server just to take a drink order 15 to 20 minutes then you still have to wait atleast 10minutes before you get your drinks. However I kept going back beacuse what they lacked in service was made up by a delicious meal. I don't think I will be foing back or recomending this venue again. Not only was the service terrible yesterday when I'm litrally waving and calling for a waitress barlady or just about anybody who works there who just looks me straight in the eyes and ignores me and the 1 guy event shoke his head when I got his attention. That's when myself should of walked out, but i was hoping to get that delicious steak I had previously. Instead not only did they serve the wrong sauce with my steak, the steak itself was off. Took one bite and could immidiately taste vrot meat. Spat it out and again trying to get a server's attention is impossible I had to get up witb my plate of vrot food to the waitress only to get a response of I will tell the kitchen. Another waitress finally comes to me and says they are making me another one. My appetite already gone due...

St James is one of my favorite places. It has a huge area inside and a lovely outside enclosed courtyard. It is especially great for those wanting to go out for a meal but is scared of covid-19. Well you definately don't need to worry about that there. It is very spacious, they are extremely hygienic and disinfect tables and items on the table all the time. Masks are worn by the workers too. The food is outstanding with huge portions being served and delicious beyond words. The pizzas are so well dressed with a beautiful, delicious crispy, thin base, yumm, the best pizzas! The Mexican Steak is divine with 2 sides @R129, its a giveaway. Look out for their specials. My sister and I shared the pizza with 2 appetizers for a giveaway R89. Huge variety of menu options which is great. The food wasn't bad but not great. We went with the ribs and wings platter and capo pizza with extra cheese. The ribs wasn't cooked well, almost had the mouth feel of medium rare steak. At least the rib meat wasn't dry but very heavily doused in marinade/sauce. I couldn't cut the ribs with the knife they brought I asked for a sharper knife. Almost get the feeling it's precooked/smoked, ribs and not fresh. The wings seemed boiled and then marinaded/sauced. The fries were dry, frozen deep fried chips. The orange juice was bad, none of the juices are freshly squeezed, priced at R29/glass. The pizza seemed like it had too little cheese rather than extra cheese. The waitress confirmed they added extra cheese to the pizza which is weird.The extra cheese priced at R28.
