I was a patient at Life St George's hospital and Wiesenhof is the on site coffee shop. While the coffee is enjoyable, the price and size, not so much!!
Their "largest" take away coffee is the size of a small take away coffee elsewhere and the price for that "large" coffee (exaggeration on the large), is R48!!
Their food is way overpriced as are their sweets, simba chips, Cooldrinks, waters, etc.
Rather do what my mom did for me. Let a family member or friend stop at Woolies, Seattle or even Beantree at Spar and pick up a take away coffee and some munchies from there for you, it's way cheaper than this coffee shop.
I think it's an absolute shame that a coffee shop that operates from a hospital which caters mainly for the sick or critical health patients as well as very concerned and worried family members has no trouble making their money off of someone else's poor health and worry.
Most people at the hospital are there because they are fortunate enough to have medical aid, that does not mean that they are super rich and can afford that coffee shops astronomical prices!!!!
Making money off of sick people and worried families is absolutely appalling and this coffee shop should be ashamed of itself!!
The only nice thing about it was the lady who prepared my coffee, Stefanie was her name. She was very pleasant and always caring and concerned with taking the time to ask how I was and for remembering my order.
As for the rest,...
Read moreI ordered an omelette. I asked to replace my toast with a salad or a slice of fresh tomatoe if salad was too much and was told categorically NO. Also found it very expensive you have to pay extra for everything.
Response to your response.
Yes I did take the toast out of principal. I took it away since you would not replace it with a slice of tomatoe, after all I paid for it right? Had you swopped it I wouldn't have taken it away. I gave it to a car guard. You would like to have a chat? Why then did you not approach me when our waitress pointed me out to you? I was aware of her pointing me out to you behind the cake fridge. This further left a bad taste. I could have paid for a slice of tomatoe at R12 a slice but chose not to as the price would have shot up to above R80 for a cheese and mushroom omelette. Next time consider that some people have gluten intolences and or food preferences, a simple slice of tomatoe or a small side salad to replace chips or bread is really not such a big thing is it? Its a common practice in most eateries to swop out without...
Read moreDuring September 2023, I spent many lonely hours in the coffee shop, while my husband was in hospital having had a triple bypass. The staff are amazing, caring and compassionate in every little way, they noticed me, head in hands, tears pouring while I waited on that morning of surgery, all of them came to me and reassured me that all would be fine, God is in control. Such love, warmth and concern is rare in these days, I would like to thank each one, and in particular Veronique, such a compassionate and loving person when I needed it. God bless each one and all the management, who stood by me. A small mention of service, food etc - always good and served professionally. Always with my heartfelt thanks. God bless you...
