Golden Coast Restaurant is hands down the best spot in Port Elizabeth for authentic Chinese food! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with friendly service and the warm aroma of freshly prepared dishes that instantly make you hungry.

The food is absolutely top-notch — every bite is full of rich, balanced flavors that taste fresh and authentic. The sweet and sour pork is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the beef chow mein is packed with fresh veggies and just the right amount of sauce. And the fried rice is to die for — fluffy, full of flavor, and the perfect companion to every dish on the menu.

What really sets Golden Coast apart is how affordable it is for the quality you get. The portions are generous, the presentation is always neat, and you walk out feeling completely satisfied without breaking the bank. Whether you’re dining in with friends or grabbing takeaway, it’s consistently excellent.

They do authentic Asian dishes here. I am 110% happy with this place, and I feel right at home. The people working there are friendly and speedy with service. Ordered 7-10 dishes of food for a round table (sitting 11 guests) and we got our food 20 minutes later in intervals of 5-10 minutes in between (a few dishes at a time). The manager was caring and came in to check whether we were in need of anything. Although the food portions look small in the beginning, I can say with guarantee that you will leave this place with a full tummy. Their food is absolute divine. I don’t think there is another Asian/Taiwanese restaurant that cooks better and has more authentic food than this restaurant. The best part of it all is that their pricing is affordable!! The inside decor, although looks old and dusty, adds to the atmosphere. I feel like I’m in a restaurant in an Asian country. Lovely decor, latern lights and chinese paintings all over the place. However, a recommendation would be to add more lights inside. It tends to get quite dark in the building, especially as the evening comes which makes it’s difficult to read the menus. Adding more light sources in the restaurant will definitely improve the ratings...

Extremely disappointing dinner tonight.. whenever I am PE it is always a tradition to take my son there but tonight was just beyond horrendous and disappointing… it was very dark as we entered, the wine list was almost empty and when we did eventually get the a bottle of wine I was given the wine and the bottle opener to open it myself.. unheard of !!!!!! the food was very average, much smaller portions and poorly presented but the atmosphere itself was very dark and dismal… half the tables weren’t even made up and majority of the restaurant was in the dark…. the so called new young owner came in half through our meal with a severely cocky attitude and proceeded to watch his Chinese (whatever it was) on his phone in the reception area at full volume… there was no music playing in the restaurant the entire time we were there which made it even more disturbing….. as sad as it is I will never go back….. it’s gone to complete...
