Brooklyn Mall - Dated and Disappointing, Especially the Parking Nightmare A visit to Brooklyn Mall these days unfortunately highlights how badly the centre is aging. While it might have once been a premier destination, it now feels tired and in desperate need of attention. The most glaring issue, and frankly the most frustrating part of any visit, is the parking. It's not just inconvenient; it's downright horrific. The layout seems poorly conceived, making navigation difficult and stressful even before you find a spot. Exiting is a particularly tedious affair thanks to a cumbersome double boom gate system. This unnecessary hurdle adds significant delay and hassle, especially during peak times, turning the simple act of leaving into an ordeal. The parking situation is symptomatic of a larger problem: the entire mall feels outdated. It lacks the modern amenities, flow, and design considerations that shoppers now expect. Compared to more contemporary centres in Pretoria, like Menlyn Mall, Brooklyn simply doesn't measure up. This mall requires more than just a facelift; it needs a complete overhaul. A thorough redesign is essential to address the fundamental flaws, particularly in the parking infrastructure, and to bring the entire facility up to modern standards. Until significant changes are made, I find myself actively choosing to go elsewhere, like Menlyn, for a much smoother and more pleasant shopping experience. Brooklyn Mall, in its current state, is unfortunately a...
Read moreGreat layout of shops. Very accessible and one feels very safe.
I have been bringing my family to Brooklyn Mall for years and it is always a pleasure. Brooklyn Mall has a very wide range of shops to choose from. Too many to mention. We personally love going to Seattle, Exclusive Books, Cape Union, Poetry and the library (yes, they do have one, and the sweets shop).
This is a great alternative to large shopping malls, as you can get what you need fairly quickly, not spending unnecessary time away from home, work or "that braai". Although it is a Mall, you can be guaranteed to get what you need, without walking for miles and miles. Their trading hours are also quite long, which is amazing for those last minute purchases which slipped your mind.
Perhaps the only shop or store type missing, to make this a perfect find-all-you-need place is a romantic restaurant (so sad Ciao is not there anymore). We do love the semi-outdoor design square. It has a great atmosphere. Though I have been coming for years with my wife and kids and we always find what we need, at decent prices...
It is important that we support venues as these, especially in the current times we are in.
I can therefor recommend Brooklyn...
Read moreForever New shamelessly hijacked the listing that belonged to Brooklyn Mall. The proof is that most of the reviews refer to the mall and have nothing to do with Forever New. UPDATE and REPLY to Forever New: Your response is not true. I had posted a review for Brooklyn Mall long before your shop was a tenant of the mall (many years ago). Then, one day I saw that my review for Brooklyn Mall had suddenly changed to a Review for a shop called: "Forever New". This is how and when I realized that your shop hijacked the original listing for Brooklyn Mall. There is no confusion. There are hundreds of reviews under "Forever New", but when you actually go and read the reviews, the absolute majority of them refer to the mall and not to your shop. These are not "infrequent" references as you try to justify them. I actually challenge you to count how many reviews specifically mention your shop and how many reviews are actually referring to the Mall. Please post the results and let's see if they are "infrequent" as you call them. UPDATE: years later and this shameless hijacking hasn't...
