My first Camino and the first of many!!! The build up to this Camino was major for me, being a stay@home mom i had to prepare, plan and put many many plans into action. By the time the day arrived to my departure I was depleted of all emotional, physical energy, arriving at our first accomodation in Plett was just what I needed, out of the hustle and bustle on a horse farm overlooking the ocean.. meeting my fellow camino'ists and Iain who gave a run down of what to expect etc.. I felt immediately revived! The first walking morning was beyond exciting, not really knowing what to expect and I was blown away every single day, not just by the incredible sights, smells, on each day of the walk but by the wonderful conversation, the peace and quiet, our amazing guides Murray & Megan who allowed us to walk at our own pace when we needed to, who were a wealth of information for one's so young and who really encouraged me to dig a bit deeper on the steeper inclines. The Accommodation at every stop was simply amazing. Yes each place had crisp white linen and a hot shower but it was more than that, the essence of each stay was unique, the swimming pool, the food, the host, it was better than I dared to hope for and perfect in every way. What I can't get over is how accommodating everyone was from my fellow camino'ists to our accommodation hosts to our Camino organisers, Iain, Kev, Pam so incredibly friendly, kind and generous with their time, their words and their actions. When you come from a Big City you forget what a community is like and to have had the chance to experience the Plett Camino Community was an honour and a privilege. If I could join them again tomorrow I would in a heartbeat!! A great many lessons were learnt, many private and personal but my biggest take away from Iain and his amazing team was the generosity they showed me as a human being, I felt like I was/am part of their family. At 51 years old I have discovered a Camino lifestyle and I will be back over...
Read moreWe had 5 wonderful days hiking with the Plett Camino Team
The whole team was just amazing, And we could see very passionate about there work
From the Logistics and Behind the scenes work to the Guides all ensuring that our Camino was going to be one to remember
The nice little surprises we received along the way from drinks in the veld to wine tasting, a massage and game drive! All of which were kept secret from us and only reviled at the last minute!
Our meals(3) were all very special and lots of effort went in to making sure we were well catered for, no one was going to go hungry or thirsty as we finished each great day with a nice cold sun downer
A well planned circular route, easily navigated with the help of our two knowledgeable caring local guides, should the need arise to evacuate the route has exit routes for emergencies
One could hike with the basics and if needed the team will arrange for anything you may have forgotten or need along the way
Our accommodation was lovely with each host ensuring we were most comfortable and got a good nights rest at the end of each hiking day

Read moreI recently had the opportunity to hike the Plett Camino but was very apprehensive to go on my own, not knowing anyone else. Little did I know that this would enrich my experience so much more. The Plett Camino really is the perfect blend of physical activity, cultural enrichment and wildlife. The route was well organised taking you through diverse landscapes from lush forests to rolling hills with the added highlight of wine tasting at two quant vineyards in the region. Being able to unwind and savour the most DELICIOUS cheese boards while we learnt all about the wine making process. The accommodation was just as diverse as the landscape with every place unique in its own way. We even had a short game drive through the reserve which felt like a true safari experience. I highly recommend this hike to anyone needing to push that ‘reset’ button. Thank you Iain and your Plett Camino team for an...
