South Africa is a beautiful country blessed with many natural resources from the oceans, the mountains, the wildlife parks, rivers, and....beautiful soft sand beaches. Central is one of them. It is centrally located in Plettenberg, a 3 minute walk from nice apartments, it's on the Indian ocean side of South Africa so the water is not as cold as in Capetown, on most days the waves are gentle, which encourages swimming, the water is nice and clean with no discernable sewage (Britons will like this lol), the beach is vast and long, bookended by a hotel, a bay, and a mountain.Depending on the time of year, it won't be packed.

In the evenings you will be treated to a light show courtesy of the ships moored in the bay, and in the morning you will witness the sun rising over the ocean, which is spectacular. I'd recommend this to families preferably not in December when most South Africans stream to the beaches. For everyone else knock yourselves out. There are also tour groups a shells throw away who offer ocean excursions to go swimming...

Plettenberg Bay, fondly called Plett, is South Africas seaside sweetheart with beaches so golden they make your SPF cry. First spotted by Portuguese explorers in 1487 and now overrun by sunburnt Europeans pretending to be surfers, it is the Garden Route’s glossy postcard child.

Here you can swim with dolphins if they’re in the mood, watch whales breach while you chew overpriced calamari, or just stare at the Indian Ocean and wonder how long before global warming makes this your front yard. The bay is ringed by Robberg Nature Reserve, a scenic hike that tricks you into thinking you’re athletic while Cape fur seals laugh at your cardio.

In short, Plettenberg Bay is where the jet set meets the sea gulls, bucket lists get a tick, and sand finds its way into body parts science still...

Plett Beach is pure bliss! 🌊 It was so relaxing to just sit back and soak in the atmosphere. Even though it wasn’t peak season, the beach still had a wonderful energy with a fair number of people enjoying the sun and sea.

What stood out was how safe and well-managed it felt—lifeguards were on duty, which gave us peace of mind. We were lucky enough to watch seals frolicking in the waves, and the seagulls made for the perfect photo moments (we even fed them and got the most beautiful shots 📸).

This beach has everything—natural beauty, a lively yet laid-back vibe, and those little unexpected moments that make it unforgettable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and can’t wait...
