Golden Harvest Park — Attraction in Johannesburg Ward 101

I normally do my morning runs at this park awesome I must say I enjoy it. Today I thought of taking my family there to chill. I wish I didn't. Got to the gate my cooler bag was searched and obviously there there was no alcohol since I was taking my kids for a fun day. All of a sudden a rondom Tsonga speaking lady didn't get her. She didn't have a name tag, came only to us and said it's a first time seeing us alcohol is not allowed she needs to search our cooler bag I obey and allowed her and I even said they've already checked us at the gate and she just said who with an attitude the She left and didn't go to other groups. I let pass not making a fuss about it. however it got me annoyed walking and seeing ppl with savanna bottles and corona bottles I wondered since she came from that directions how did she let them stay. Oh the worse one took my kids to show the trail I normally run on, we saw lots of bottles of alcohol lying around. It's so disappointing that we were treated in such manner. While those who have alcohol are roaming around freely holding bottles in their hands. This park's management needs to get the house in order and have people worthy to do a proper job and stop harassing innocent people because you never saw then before. I don't mind being searched but...

This is actually a really nice park and I do enjoy coming here for walks with my dogs. Unfortunately it does have a few issues.

The municipality really needs to get it together to fix this park.

The key is getting rid of the squatters in the park and demolishing those houses they're occupying to deter future occupation.

Safety is an issue. Muggers hide in the overgrown vegetation.

The fencing needs to be fixed in numerous places

Alcohol bylaws need to be enforced properly in the park. I always see alcohol bottles laying about

Due to that, litter is a big problem in the park too. I know the community often has events where they clean up the litter, but people litter faster than it can be cleaned. Users of the park need to take accountability too. And not drink there too.

Many of bins are in a dilapidated state. Rusted away or missing

Joburg Parks does the bare minimum at the park, but it needs a proper overhaul

I have used this park for the past 30 years Today at about 1730 I was denied entrance with my vehicle by a man at the entrance of the park This man does not follow any protocol in terms of the private security regulations and refuse to respect the time tables advertised by the parks authorities displayed at the entrance of the park This situation give me the impression that the park can not be used for walking or running but rather it is OK to be used by the criminals and people that breaks the law as the people controlling the security of the park are not real security officers as they don't have credentials and the knowledge to do the right work, prove of the above is that there is always public drinking and disturbances of the peace also another problem is the ongoing sewerage leaking into the lake putting in danger the living creatures and ecology We need to stop the arrogant corruption that is...
