The extent of information and history that one can experience at the National Museum was far greater than we expected! For me it really was a huge treat!!! Although the exhibitions are old and not in pristine condition, the employees keep it nice and clean. Entrance at that stage was only R10. I think interest has declined over time, leading to the museum financially unable to renovate necessary exhibitions, due to the safety of the surrounding area largely and secondary an overall disinterest of families and schools taking young people to museums as educational or recreational tours. Read moreThis is a hidden gem of Bloemfontein. For a R5 entry, you can see the most amazing exhibits. Parking is a bit difficult, but worth the struggle. Amazing exhibits on the history of BFN, which is extremely informative. They have different topics they choose per quarter, well Worth it to book a session for your child. We did a session on the Birds of South Africa andeven I was amazed at the quality of the session. It was extremely interactive and my 5 year old enjoyed it immensely. Read moreMuseum is definitely one of the best sites in bloemfontein. in one short visit I learnt more about the geology in history of this region than I would have ever imagined. their explanations of the karoo supergroup were better than anything I've found online.
Fossil exhibit was excellent.
The historical Street scene created on the second Deck is so authentic you forget your in a museum.
The tool development display from stone age to steel is about the best I've ever seen.
And the price could not be lower.
Only problem the audio guide devices were all dead. No one charged...
