Point Jewellery Exchange — Attraction in Sea Point

UPDATE: As you can see below the Owner responded stating my review is factually incorrect. Well if my review is factually incorrect why did he send me a 2nd lawyers letter today apologising for what Mark did to me and asking me to meet him so he can buy my jewellery? See attached relevant extracts from the lawyers letter received today. PS He also failed to mention that majority of my reviews are good reviews!

I had an extremely bad experience when trying to sell my old gold jewellery to Point Jewellery Exchange. Mark told me he pays based on the current spot price less 10%. He showed me the spot price on his laptop. He weighed everything on his two scales. He wrote his calculations on a small piece of paper while I put everything into a spreadsheet so there would be no errors. At the end his calculation was over R3000 less than the spreadsheet. He went through his calculations with me and I shockingly discovered that the difference was because: He was not using the current spot price he had shown me on his laptop. He was using the previous day's lower price. He was not using the weights he showed me on his two scales. He was using  lower weights. For jewellery with diamonds and sapphires he was decreasing the weight by arbitrary amounts AND he was not paying me for the diamonds and sapphires AND he was keeping the diamonds and sapphires for himself for free. He was penalising me in THREE ways all for his benefit. For certain items he was deducting 25% commission instead of the 10% he told me. He told me to send him my spreadsheet which I did and he went through it 26x but he still refused to rectify his errors. He insisted I must accept his factually incorrect calculation. I said No. Furthermore, he gave me a written quote the day before to fix 3 broken items of jewellery. Now he told me the quote was X. This was much higher than the written quote. When I showed him his written quote he backed down. Because of all this I did not sell my jewellery to them and I did not fix my jewellery with them. I told Mark I would be writing a review and promptly I received a lawyer's letter from them threatening me to keep quiet and not write a review or they will sue me. Reviews are legal everywhere in the world because of Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Speech and when it is based on facts and it is in the public's interest. We are not living in Apartheid South Africa any longer, we are living in a Democracy and Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Speech are enshrined in our Constitution. Be careful if you do not understand how the gold price works and if you don't check his calculations like I did. I have kept his calculations as evidence should they decide to sue me for writing...
