If you are thinking off booking a room at this hotel, please see my experience below before considering.
I booked for a double crash pad on 8th August 2022 for myself and my partner so we could celebrate our 4 years together. The booking was meant to commence this past weekend where I checked in on Friday (28th October) and was meant to check out the morning of the Sunday, 30th October.
I initially wanted to book at the hotel because I often come to the market to get food and find it is such a great place to chill. The room was so amazing, and sea facing views were just tremendous. It just unfortunate that the service received by some of the staff was below par from what I would expect from hotel. Upon our arrival, we came in after 18H00 to check in. There were two staff members in front. No one bothered to ask us if we need help. We had to ask if someone could assist us. Then, at 22H30 on the night of the 28th October, we were both asleep only to be awoken by a series of frantic knocking by the nightshift manager, Isaac. He asked me to open the door but spoke to him through the window. He then asked me if I was booked to be in this room (room 221) because there was another client downstairs booked for the room. I showed him the booking confirmation via email. Off he went. No one came back to let us know what was going on until my partner went outside to check.
Then on Saturday, 30th October, we had returned from an outing of Ziplining only to find that there were no towels left for us. Just after 18H00, I messaged the Mojo hotel WhatsApp number to request for towels. An hour later, I went down to reception to ask the front desk (as I was going to the market to get food anyways). 20H00 or so and still no towels. Someone then responded via the WhatsApp number around the same time and said they would send housekeeping. just after 21H00, my partner went downstairs to ask for towels and had stood there waiting and waiting whilst the manager, Isaac, took more interest at staring at the provocative dressed ladies than to follow-up and check that someone had gone to get us towels.
At that point we both decided it was time for us to leave. A manager with that attitude and the fact that people can just roam around the hotel premises didn't make us feel safe at all. Upon leaving our room, a gentleman with a green golfer shirt then came to bring the towels. He insisted we stay and didn't seem to take any regard or note from what my partner had to say in terms of the experience he had just had downstairs with the manager Isaac. This fellow then made some insinuation that there are a lot of hotels around the area and that competition is cut throat ... almost like he was making us feel intimidated and that we should just stay put and keep quiet.
We checked out shortly before 22H00 last night, therefore I insist on a refund for the one night of stay we didn't get due the issues described above.
It’s now the 22nd November 2022 and after numerous calls / emails and follow-ups, the only time someone got back to us was Ami … and another lady which was a week ago with still no...
Read moreWhat a stunning place, After having looked online for a place to stay during my visit to Cape Town last week... I gave up and thought I'd sort it out when I got there ... Called a friend and asked her to help me look... Walked up the colorful streets of Bokaap where the guest lodge she had recommended told me they were full...
Having seen a nice looking pub (Step Brothers) on the corner of Waterkant Street &, Chiappini St... I walked back pulling my small bag which now weighed a bit more strangely, or maybe I was just getting tired and stressed about not having a place to crash for the night.
A beer later and the waitress there helped me search for backpackers online...
When I came across Mojo Hotel's pictures and site, I was hooked but very skeptical about how much it would cost... The waitress warned that some places put up 'filtered photos' on their sites so I should be cautious... I took a leap of faith after receiving a quote which meant I would only be paying R360 a night in a 6 bedroom dorm... (way out of my comfort zone post varsity days)... but I was a bit stranded and went for it... It would be my birthday in two days (9 March).. if it were to be a bad experience, then I'd have a story to tell about my 33rd birthday in Cape Town.
A few more beers later with my friend who had knocked off by then and decided to join me...we visited the classy restaurant bar with a 360° view of Cape Town... The Vue and took some night time pictures of the City of Cape Town, had a deliciously prepared burger cocktail (4 mini size burgers with delicious fillings)... Then It was time to head home... Taxify which took 5min to get to us dropped my lady friend at the MyCity Bus terminal, then we headed to the place I had only seen in pictures on google a few hours ago...
What a WOW...
MOJO HOTEL is top class at a very affordable price... of course there are the upper offering rooms where you'd stay alone, but even in our 6 bed room dorm it felt as if one was in their own space, The design of the place, the colors the considerations... wifi, power sockets that are accessible and international for each bed with a well located reading light by the bed side... Spacious and beautifully designed clean bathroom... and the kitchen which made me feel like I was home... Stove, fridge, microwave oven... everything specifically chosen for that room.. everything blends in... including the balcony that allows you to sit above the street leading into the hotel... the view at night is interesting
The views from the rooftop ... The Mojo Market on the ground floor was just icing on top of my birthday cake... with live music everyday and food crafted for my curious stomach... and of course the local and international craft beers.
The place warrants a visit with the fellas... I kept calling via whatsapp video call so they could see what they were missing out on....
Thank You Google...
Thank You MOJO HOTEL & the Mojo Market for the...

I've recently had my first stay at the Mojo Hotel. One thing that stood out was that the noise levels are totally unbearable!
Surely stricter rules can be enforced to ensure a peaceful stay for each guest. Perhaps the rooms or hallway can be lined with sound proof measurements as every loud chatter, TV, people moving up and down can be heard - even right through the night/early hours of the morning.
I've never experienced a more unpleasant stay. I've even had to get out of my bed to tell multiple guests standing outside of their rooms talking over to one another's open room doors to keep the noise levels down as we're trying to sleep at 01:33am in the morning. How inconsiderate! Each guest signs at check in to oblige to keep the noise levels down, yet I still had to ask grown adults to keep quiet.
The loft room setup is also very hazardous. Glow in the dark/better signage needs to be put up on either end of the beam in the roof to indicate that one needs to bend when walking as it's so easy to knock ones head and simultaneously fall down narrow/steap stairs.
The customer service when one asks for assistance is as if staff are doing you a favor by assisting you when it is their job to do so. There is a TV guide on how to get to Netflix, but if there's no internet connection, you cannot access Netflix. I've asked for assistance 3 times - via whatsapp (to which I still don't have a response), a staff member who brought cutlery to the room (still no assistance as she left to 'get someone else to help') and lastly, reception itself.
To conclude, I've also requested that a cot be placed in the room I booked for my 8 month old baby. Up until now there's still no cot. I've requested and confirmed via email to please include a cot for the baby upon arrival, yet this confirmed instruction could not be carried through. Our pillows also smelt like smoke and our sheets + bedding had stains on it. Cleaners entered the room and walked in and out as if it was their accommodation. 2 staff members didn't even know where to locate the bathroom in our room to replenish items.
I've checked the reviews and noted that multiple guests experienced what we have experienced during our stay. Constant high noise levels and unfriendly staff. The price one pays for a room is definitely not worth the space offering, experience nor service.
I'll definitely not be returning to the Mojo Hotel ever again, nor would I recommend guests to stay over. I hope that this feedback will be taken seriously and that improvements will be made for the next guest that will be paying to stay at...
