Lotte World Folk Museum — Attraction in Seoul

Highly recommend this for all ages. It’s next to Lotte world theme park so is well tailored for kids but it also means the more interactive and immersive elements keeps those not naturally interested in history engaged. It’s mostly a walk through museum starting at the beginning of the dinosaurs and documenting the history of Korea through the ages with life size models and scenarios. The figures also move and there are simple mechanics which brings it to life more. There is a little stamp trail to collect stamps and other points like photo taking things with props. I feel like I learnt a lot as the visual elements helped me understand more about the text (in both English and Korean). There’s also a workshop area but there was nothing going on in my visit. I have been to this museum at least 3 times and will definitely return again! I have brought foreign friends here as they toured Korea, brought my 4 year old, and today brought my 4 year old, 2 year old, and husband. The price is very reasonable (free if you are already going to Lotte World itself) and you can see amazing artifacts, models, and replicas and even a souvenir shop at the end! I always learn something new each time and the museum is not too overwhelming (good for kids and elderly) but also fascinating. Restrooms are easy to access inside, with vending machines, coffee, and restaurants within the museum at the end. Definitely not to be missed if you are visiting Lotte world (its ticket includes free admission to this lovely museum). Quite impressed by many of the awesome miniature models and buildings that describe Korean history and culture so vividly! Don’t be spoiled and spend all day in the amusement park.
