Updated review: I've gone again 3 years later and I have a few more things to say as this trip was fortunately not rained on! My group and I had the chance to go on a weekday starting our day at around 11am. It was definitely way less crowded than when I went on a weekend. Most of the people there were foreigners and Korean foreigners like myself (Koreans from abroad) as most of the Korean kids in June are still in school (their summer break starts around July). I got to go on many more rides on this trip. I went on the comet express (outside ride) again and it was still as fun as ever. The line was still pretty long but at least once you get inside the building, it has air conditioning. The french revolution (inside ride) probably had one of the longest lines that we had to wait in but probably for good reason. It's definitely one of lotte world's most fast and exciting rides if you're a rollercoaster fan. I will say all of my group members and I hit the sides of our heads on the seats which definitely hurt and I would be careful if you're wearing big earrings. I also went on the Pharaoh's fury but honestly I went on this ride on accident thinking it was another ride. It was fun but definitely not the rollercoaster I thought it was. It was mainly a themed ride similar to the adventures of Sinbad ride. On that note, we stood in line for the adventures of Sinbad ride for sentiments sake and surprise: it stopped AGAIN! Thankfully we weren't actually on the ride this time when it stopped; we were barely into the like when an announcement went off telling us that the ride had stopped. Honestly, I'm not sure how this ride hasn't just been cancelled with the amount of issues it has. I ended up getting some drinks and tteokboki here and while the tteokboki price wasn't too bad at the location I went to (School Food), the other drinks and desserts were definitely more on the pricey side (around 5,0007000 won for drinks/smoothies). There were also some outside rides that were temporarily closed while we were there which was disappointing because one of them, the Fume, was one of the biggest and most exciting looking and it was closed. We also went on the viking ride but both times that we went on it, the line was pretty minimal because of the times that we went on it (right in the morning and right at around 8pm). I would recommend going on the more popular and bigger rides right when the park opens or an hour or two before the park closes. I left at 8:30pm but I feel like if I stayed around a little longer, I probably could have gone on several more rides before the closing time at 10pm. Most people I would say leave at around 8:30. Also there are 2 parades: one at around 12pm ish (not sure) and one at 8pm. I will say, the midday one was pretty annoying because it was genuinely so loud and I was just trying to eat lunch with my friend, but it's alright. The 8pm one was definitely a better experience because of all the lights and smoke machines. Ultimately, I had a much better time the second time around but the lines were still definitely really long, but I guess that's just to be expected for any popular amusement park.
First time review: I went to both everland and lotte world and I enjoyed both! I'm really sad I couldn't go to many outside rides as they were closed due to the rain but I did go on the comet express and although I did get soaked, it was so so worth it! Definitely my favorite ride there! It was weird though because for my ride for The adventures of Sinbad, my ride stopped multiple times throughout. The staff apologized and we got through safely(it's not a dangerous ride, you mostly just flow through the river seeing the props). Still, it was kind of weird. The viking was fun and went extremely high but the line was so long for an experience that lasted 2 minutes max. Still, it was a really fun experience and I highly recommend going when it's...
Read moreHonestly, this is one of the worst theme park I have gone to. This is comparable to the Sixflags in North California.
I came to Lotte World Park on a Wednesday, 31 July. It was really packed as I expected. That is fine and normal because of the summer season and school is out. The best thing about this park is the staff members are very helpful except when you loose stuff (more to follow). The staff actually helped us get a huge discount upon entry. It was about 40% off ticket sales. The park is not the cleanest and everything looks so old and outdated. Also, while I was waiting in line a group of kids started play fighting but kept bumping the people around them, to the point where it got really annoyed. Eventually I ended up passing them because of their shenanigans.
This park is really meant for families with small children. There are only 2 rides for adults and the wait time is about 2 hours if you get in the park past noon. The rides both outside and inside the park have too long of lines even if you buy the fast pass it will take you about 1 hour. The big rides that are highlighted have slot times to go in and the rides all along the park have about 2-3 karts which are used and it takes a long time for riders to get to the front of the line.
Compared to Disney land, sixflags, fantasia land or Europa park. This is very slow moving lines even in peak season. Some rides are so packed that the staff actually close the lines and prevent people from riding. One ride in particular was the ballon ride which they closed 3 hours before the park closed because of the long wait line.
I would say if you have all the time in the world to waste then definitely come to this park because that is what you will do. Waste your time waiting in lines.
Besides all the bad things about the long lines and rides catered to mostly children. The park is small and seems cramped. This park opened in 1989 and it seems like it hasn’t been updated. I was excited to come here and enjoy the day but honestly it was a waste of time.
Now to speak about my park staff experience. So I went into a 5G ride which is basically a seat with a screen infront of you that looks like a roller coaster. The screen starts playing the roller coaster and the seat basically moves to mock the movement of the rolller coaster. That is all this 5G ride is about. It’s a wack version of VR roller coaster basically. Anyways… the experience ends and I leave. Once I get outside I notice that my sunglasses are missing. I run over to the staff and I tell them that I left my sunglasses in a black box. I tell them exactly where they are and they call over walkie talkie. The staff upstairs immediately responds and says they don’t have anything and they haven’t seen sunglasses. I told the staff that they need to look because I just got off the ride and the response was too quick for someone to check and not see anything… long story short the staff says that don’t have the sunglasses and now i am without sunglasses because they refused to help me. I even asked to go upstairs to check for them and I was refused access and told I needed to go in the line if I wanted to go upstairs. This was not a great experience and I am now down a pair of sunglasses.
In short; would I recommend this place… it depends. If you have small children and want them to only have fun then yes. Yes take your family with you and have fun with the children. Just know that even with the fast pass you will be waiting online for a while. Now if you are an adult and only going with you and a group of friends. I do not recommend this...
Read moreI’m a self-confessed theme park nerd, and Lotte World formed a big part of my excitement when I planned a trip to Korea. The first thing that hit me when I arrived was the sheer scale of it – it was gigantic, easily one of the biggest indoor spaces I’ve ever been in. The park has so many attractions hidden throughout the different levels of the park. It’s hard to navigate at first, but you soon start to get used to it, and that’s part of the fun – exploring and discovering. There were a wide range of attractions spread across the indoor park and the outdoor area called Magic Island. Some of the highlights include the awesome Atlantis Adventure roller coaster, the impressive Pharaoh’s Fury dark ride that wouldn’t be out of place at a Disney park, and French Revolution, a thrilling roller coaster that weaves in and out of the indoor park.
When we visited it was during the festive break, so the park was extremely busy. As we were short on time, and wanted to experience as much as possible, we did by the Magic Pass Premium so we could skip the queues on 5 of the rides. This was 49,000 KRW (about £30 or $40) but was totally worth it. We ended up skipping around 5 hours worth of queues. Buying it can be a little confusing for foreigners, as you’ll need to leave the park to buy it and then return. Alternatively, you can buy it before you go in from the main ticket desks.
There are so many shows and things to see whilst visiting. They do a parade a couple of times a day, and that’s very popular with visitors. I was impressed at how much effort went into the entertainment side of things. There was also a nighttime projection show on the castle.
There is no shortage of food and drink options at the park – around every corner there was something tempting to eat or drink.
The park is very well looked after, and although some areas look a little dated, they are in pristine condition. Lotte World was one of the highlights of my visit to Seoul, and I’d highly recommend a visit if you’re looking for a fun day out – you won’t be disappointed!
Here are a few tips for your visit. Download the app so you can see what rides are open and closed, and what level queue times are. I would aim to get there for opening time or stay until close, the busiest hours are from around 12pm until 7pm, and if your short on time, get a Magic...
