Castillo del Toston is a very popular tourist destination. Just on the edge of the town with white sand beaches. Fhishing and surfing are possible. Just Beautiful. Rough dirt road brings you to several stops by the coast. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. It is also a place to see a skeleton of a water animal found by archeologists. Couple of old ovens and a nice Bay to see. Plenty of shops nearby with toilets. Car park is free near the monuments. Very windy coast. Recommended it for anyone.

A historic defence system against attacking pirates. A quick place to visit and come by. Entrance is 1,5 Euro only payable by credit card, and the three stories building takes about 15 minutes to see. Basement is a small gallery and dungeon. Upper floor is view over the see and small nice habour. Main floor is also an exhibit. Nice view across the shores and large waves breaking.

*Disclaimer: Did not visit the Castillo* One of the less soulless places on Fuerteventura apart from the old settlements in the heartland. El Cotillo is a sleeping village laying on a rough coast therefore frequented by experienced surfers. Great view on the ocean from Castillo del Tostón on the big waves rolling in and the beautiful beach to the South.

While staying in ferteventura in correlojo we took the local bus across to the west coast to Castillo. This is a very quiet part of the island wirh a small harbour, a large expanse of beach. It can be very windy with a big surf that is great for the surfers. There are only a few cafe/bars so not to much to do There is a small defence fort but was closed for works in febuary 19 when we were there. There are a couple of places on the way across which yoy can stop at which are interesting and a much cheaper way than the...

There are several similar watchtowers on the Canary Islands. Castillo de El Tostón has two levels inside. It was constructed by a Spaniard in the Medieval period. Then rebuilt in XVII century. It was a characteristic small watch/defence tower against pirates. I suggest an afternoon visit. It can be crowded in the morning because organized trips arrive there. I visited in February 2016. Worth to...
