The first thing that caught our eye upon entering Santa Ana del Cotillo was the shining floor—a small but telling detail that reflects the impeccable care given to the entire place. It’s clear that this restaurant isn’t just maintained; it’s cherished.
Next, we were greeted by a warm and tender hostess, setting the tone for a genuinely welcoming experience. There’s no rush, no stress—just a sense of authentic hospitality.
The menu is short, but in the best way possible. It covers everything you might want without overwhelming you with choices. We opted for squid and goat, and both dishes were exactly as they should be—prepared with skill, respect for tradition, and high-quality ingredients.
But what truly sets Santa Ana del Cotillo apart is the passion behind it. This is not a place chasing profits; it’s run by people who love what they do. It’s only open for three hours a day, five days a week, and they don’t try to squeeze in as many guests as possible. Instead, they focus on quality over quantity, ensuring that every visitor gets the best experience.

The food was nothing short of excellent—high-quality ingredients prepared to perfection. Every dish felt like a celebration of flavor, and you could tell a lot of care went into crafting each plate.

The prices are reasonable, especially considering the exceptional quality of the food and the overall experience—it’s worth every penny.

Without a doubt the best food I had in El Cotillo after a week's stay, and honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. I am huge on tasty, authentic food that does not over-engineer dishes and uses fresh flavours, and santa ana del Cotillo gives all of this to an exceptional level. I tend to see smaller menus as a sign of real quality and thought in a restaurant, and this is the case here. We ordered the cheese as starter, and prawns and squid for main, and it was faultless. The grilled squid was especially a delight. The setting is quaint and delightful, the lady and gentleman running the place were absolutely lovely (even before I arrived, we talked via Google maps so I could arrange a reservation), the wine very good too.
If you visit El Cotillo you must reserve a table at this place. I am sad that I am flying tomorrow, as it means I can't go back and try some of the delicious-sounding goat...
