The registrar team (particularly Manuel, who apparently has no issue lying to students?) gave me a regrettable last IE experience. I’m going full Karen in this review and putting 1 star for visibility: I’m an IE alumni living outside Spain and emailed registrar.university@ie.edu on Tuesday, May 6th, saying I’d be in Madrid from Saturday 10th to Wednesday 14th and wanted to pick up my diploma Monday or Tuesday. No reply for 6 days. I followed up that Monday asking to come at 14:30 the next day, this time I got a prompt confirmation. I showed up 7 minutes late, and the front desk (texting with the registrar team) said they “waited” but went on lunch, so now I had to wait until 15:30. I told the secretary I had another appointment and couldn’t stay, and asked if someone could just quickly hand it to me. The registrar team responded that they could reschedule… even though they knew I was leaving the country the next day. With no good options, I told the desk I’d call to try to move my other appointment. I came back 6 minutes later and said I’d go eat and return at 15:30 - but now the registrar team stopped responding entirely, so I was told to wait at the desk until they confirmed. I ended up standing there for an hour with nothing better to do than write this review, hoping that if it’s not the first time the registrar team or certain individuals act this way, something will be done. When the member of the registrar team came to hand me the diploma (Manuel is his name) there was no apology and he just told me where to sign, so after signing I inquire about why by being 7 minutes late I had to wait one hour and he tells me his instructions are to wait 15 minutes at the front desk for appointments and then he can leave. I say that sounds fair but that I was here a lot earlier than the 15 minutes delay so it’s not possible he respected it. We go back and forth like that a couple times where he tells me he waited 15 minutes and I say it’s not possible and then he changes to saying the appointment was at 14:30, I wasn’t here, that’s too bad (which tbh as a Swiss national I respect that strict timing hehe) but the audacity to say that after not responding to an email for 6 days and only replying after a reminder email was sent. Point is, he was adamant he waited 15 minutes before leaving, and as the petty man that I can be when I feel like it, I waited an extra 25 minutes for the secretary to come back to her desk to see at what time she sent that first message to them. 14:44. That’s after I had explained my situation, waited for her to look for my appointment in the system and not finding it (another sign of incompetence by the team?), asking me to see the email, me finding it on my phone, showing it to her, her looking some more, and only then texting Manuel or the team. So this man unashamedly and repeatedly lied to my face about how long he had waited, completely unprofessional. P.S. I had been waiting 45 minutes and asked to use the bathroom, but was told to wait because Manuel was “coming in 5 minutes.” I asked again after and was told, almost word for word, “You just got your diploma, right?! Well, you’re no longer an alumni, so you don’t have access anymore.” This was said by an older security guard who blurted it out while physically lunging closer to me to ensure a timely delivery, which made it apparent he hadn’t thought it through and acted on an impulse, likely riled up by the conversation he had overhead between me and Manuel. While part of me questioned if I heard it right due to the nature of it and the reasoning not making sense, I’m very confident that’s what was said. He then awkwardly tried to backtrack, suggesting it’d just be easier if I went somewhere outside instead due to the hassle of making me pass through their “security”, which are gates I saw him open at least 30 times at a push of a button. What a great last experience with IE after having studied there for 4 years and recommending them to several now current...
Read moreVeeery frustrating website. Too complex, hard to find things, some links simply don't work (especially in mobile version), and amazingly if you want a simple way to know the core content and subjects of a given undergraduate program, you have to go through around 100 pages of an online brochure that "looks beautiful" but is totally bloated with tons of not very useful info and huge pictures🤦♂️, why?? Finally we found a way to download the brochure in PDF, but then the subjects are no longer visible for years 2, 3 and 4 (since in the PDF you cannot click in those years tabs and can only see subjects for year 1). Really? Has IE leadership ever looked (well) into this basic/essential content as if they were new students/parents just wanting to know what's inside a given program (subjects, etc)?
Honestly, someone at IE website department needs to consider that often "less is more", and focus more on getting the basic right before spending so much time, money and space (and time from your target customers!) with overly bloated content.
Sorry for being so bold, but hopefully someone sees this and it helps IE correct these issues. I actually really like IE in general, hence my brutally honest feedback on this (important) details of its web presence, which is the first (and often last) experience many prople...
