Plaza de Espana is one of the many public squares in Madrid where you can get off the streets, grab a park bench and rest your feet. There are no alfresco cafes here but instead you will see a large fountain and the Monument to Cervantes, the late 16th century Spanish writer, most known for his work - Don Quixote. The monument was mostly designed between 1925-1930 and is 22 meters tall. There are several sculptural arrangements which make up and surround the monument, including a seated figure of Cervantes, overlooking a small pool, in front of which you can see delightful bronze representations of the characters - Don Quixote and his faithful squire, Sancho Panza. This is an enjoyable monument to see if you are a fan of the Spanish novel and makes for a good reason to pass by Plaza de Espana if planning to spend time in this area of Madrid. Note: You can conveniently visit this location if you plan to see Palacio Real, Plaza de Orient or Museo Cerralbo. The square is no more than a few minutes walk from these locations. It is also where Calle d la Princesa becomes Gran Via in for those intending to spend time on this famous shopping street in Madrid.

This is a good hotel. We had a lovely time here. The room was excellent. We booked a family room and you may as well have called it a suite. The sofa in the separate lounge was my Son's bed and this was completely separate from our room. The roof top bar and staff here were excellent, even during a mini tornado! The view is amazing and the drinks are very good especially the Aperol! We ate a great cheese board and the pizza and burgers were good, if a little pricey. ..however..the ordering and paying process is a pain, If you are a resident you should be able to charge your room. The lifts are efficient and fast. The breakfast was great in terms of the food quality and choice, but I hate buffets generally, not their fault, but you always feel like you are fighting for your food. The pool is miniscule and not worth a visit, unless you are desperate to cool down. The location is excellent for everything in Madrid. We walked everywhere and it was a joy to return to the Riu. We will be back. Thank you

The plaza is a large green space that connects the Gran Via with the Princesa street. It has a beautiful fountain dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes, with statues of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. The plaza is also a perfect place for kids, as it has several playgrounds with different themes and activities. There is a playground with swings, slides, and climbing structures, and another one with musical instruments and games The plaza is surrounded by impressive buildings, such as the Torre de Madrid and the Edificio España, which are two of the tallest skyscrapers in the city. It is also close to many cultural and historical attractions, such as the Royal Palace, the Sabatini Gardens, the Temple of Debod, and Madrid Rio.

One of the most visitied places in Madrid filled with an awesome vibe/aura by the people, architect, and just list of activites around the plaza as well to do and see. There’s also a monument to Miguel Cervantes of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. I wouldn’t say the plaza it self is the most amazing part but the things that surround it on all sides. Towards the front are tons of restaurants. stores, great walking area near the Gran Via, Cibeles Fountain and more. And towards the back are stuff such as Temple of Debod, the Principe Pio mall, Real Palace of Madrid, and way more walking areas as well. Overall, great place to visit.
