Definitely not a four star, but the reason for the bad review is the staff attitude
Please don’t get me wrong , I love Spanish people, I chose my summer vacation to spend 3 weeks in Spain; but the hotel staff were rude. For an example , I saw a button for the rooftop in the elevator , I wanted to check it out and I went there around 2 pm. There was a loud music , I thought it was roudy crowd , I’m used to seeing this for brunch in Los Angeles where I live. Someone grabbed me from the back and told me it is a private event for a wedding. I completely understand and I left of course. However, I didn’t like being grabbed, I asked when it is over as I’d like to check it out , at least to decide it is an extra benefit for coming back. The lady said 30 minute , it will be done. I came back in the evening to look at the rooftop quickly before going out for dinner , the same lady looked at my very rude and I asked why I’m back , she kicked me out as it is an another wedding event.
I’m not judging this hotel on one person attitude . I asked for the manager who was not there after I came back from dinner. I found him next day and he was even ruder, he did that I should have never been there in the first place , as the rooftop is not even open for guests or public , only for private events. I never seen an attitude like this. I mentioned that there is no mention about that in Check in or the website , and his answer was that it should have been
Not to mention the outdated lobby and weird smell of the carpet ( mostly old smell and cleaned smoke)
The shower is brand new, but the glass/curtain does not stop the water from splash due to the open concept that is poorly designed , so water leaks out all the time . Just one product in the shower , as a shampoo/conditioner/ shower gel, which you don’t expect from a four star hotel , you see that at 2 star hotels
The room is nice , but definitely does not worth the money where better options are available next door in...
Read moreIt's been almost a year (October 2016) since I and my family (with two small children) were here. The hotel as a whole looks nice. But we had the WORST esperience with regards to service and how we were treated. Despite knowing that we are a family with small children, they placed us in a "family room" with view to a back-alley of a shady strip-club, with all kinds of "traffic" going on until the early hours. On top of that, the garbage containers were placed just beneath our windows so that we were hearing the banging at 3 am when the garbage truck was collecting the garbage in our first night! Just below us was the Banquet Hall where weddings and parties are held. So if we were not woken up from the calamity in the back-alley, we were kept up by the music and noise from below! The area in the hotel used for "family rooms" were previously stockrooms, which makes sense. When they expanded the management clearly did not take into account that less so than space, a family with small children needs a relative silence so that the children can sleep!
Only when we brought the douvet and pillows with us to the lobby on the last night, and prepared to literally sleep on the sofas there, did the Hotel offer to relocate us! The manager did not have the guts to face us herself, and left it to her junior staff to deal with our fury! Their security guard at that time was very impolite and was even exuding a threat when i brought...
Read moreWe arrived late afternoon for a few days in Madrid. This was our first time visiting the city. After reading mixed reviews about this hotel I wasn’t sure what to expect however a lot of reviews were correct (unfortunately).|No smile from reception staff, a form was put in front of me to sign and hand over my card along with a room number. Basic manners were missing such as how was your flight, is this your first time here, they weren’t interested at all. I think reception staff need to look at the bar and waiter staff as they were lovely, wouldn’t pass us without saying hello when we went for a coffee or cup of tea. Irene was lovely. Reception staff are the first people we meet on arrival so this was disappointing. ||The room had a mini fridge to store some water we bought, bed was giving me a sore back after a few nights however I looked at this as somewhere to sleep while exploring the city. Woke up by beds/furniture moving next door. Two single beds pushed together, no kettle which is a basic thing to ask,|I basically got ready in the dark as when I opened the curtains my neighbours across the landing could see in to my room when I was at my mirror getting ready. No long mirror to see your outfit.||Good points - Location was key with the hotel it is at the centre is of the city with restaurants all around, places for coffee , shops etc. Clean and...
