For our first time in Madrid, we found this hotel to be excellently located right in the heart of Madrid, within easy walking distance of most of our places of interest and some excellent restaurants, but if we needed the metro there was a station 2 minutes from the hotel. The lobby gave off a very cool, hipster vibe, with a shared working space as soon as you enter the hotel, making it feel like a little community. Staff were very accommodating and friendly, willing to help us with a necessary late check-out, and our room was clean, modern, and always spotless when we got back. The negatives: we got a standard double room, which fit our budget. Unfortunately, it was WAY too small. We come from Hong Kong and are used to small spaces, but this room did not have enough room to lay out two suitcases on the floor without tripping over them. The bathroom, while clean and modern and had a great shower, offered little privacy when going to the toilet; you have to be VERY comfortable with the person you are sharing that room with! There is no door handle, only a little hole which you can peer through. The sink is right next to the bed, and honestly it felt quite claustrophobic...especially as there was no view worth looking at and it was quite dark. The hotel also uses a very strong smelling air freshener which hits you as soon as you enter; it reminded me of someone wearing too much aftershave! As a solo traveller this room would have been fine, but with a partner I would consider other options unless you a) can afford more than a standard room and b) don't mind not being able to do more than turn around...
Read moreDon't believe a thing you read good about this hotel on their website or google reviews. The website picturesdon't accurately depict the rooms. We thought we booked the double standard room but they gave us a standard double which they say is different. It's about 90 square feet. 8' wide and 12' long with the sink in this space, and a 20" jut into the room, so the bed is rammed against one wall and barely 3' of walking space at the foot and side of the bed. It's so small we can't hardly get pictures of it. The AC is poor and won't cool the room and it won't stay running. I went to the front desk to complain and there were 2 other people there complaining also that their AC wasn't working. They front desk attendants said there was nothing they could do. We tried to open the window but the AC won't work if the window is open. The widow will only open 3 inches wide "for safety reasons" but the bed headboard also blocks it from opening and you can't move the bed because there's not room to move it. It's wedged tight between the desk and window wall. Whoever sleeps on the wall side must crawl over the top of the other person to get out because they can't get out of the bed at the foot nor the side of the bed. There's no counter space at the sink and they only provided 1 drinking glass. It feels like it's a s large as a train bedroom, cramped and stuffy. Overall it's lipstick on a pig. pretty decorating but the worst we've stayed in over a 2 week stay in Europe. So bad that we canceled our next 2 nights and found a...
Read moreRecently checked out this morning, upon our stay we had no hot water yesterday and due to this we were unable to shower and leave hotel to attend our booked tours. We lost over 200€ due to this inconvenience. Shower in room 113 also leaks front right corner, toilet isn’t fitted secure & rocks side to side (unlevel) poorly built. All we were offered for compensation was 5€ breakfast at the cafe although we had to leave before Cafe was open to catch flights. Which doesn’t cover the costs and time we have lost. Our stay in Madrid was apart of our honeymoon and this experience ruined our stay.
I was promised a phone call today via WhatsApp to resolve which DID NOT happen. I’m incredibly disappointed with this service & the lack of communication to resolve. No efforts have been made. Bathrooms are tiny, if more than one guest is staying, you cannot use the toilet or shower vice versa if someone is using one. No ventilation installed in bathrooms, expect bad odours to go throughout your hotel room. Walls are paper thin, no sound proofing installed at all. Expect to be woken up all hours of the night from people checking in & dragging suitcases over stairs, slamming doors, we could hear the shower running and each time the toilet was used from the people staying in the room beside us. We found this incredibly disturbing! Every 5 minutes the aircon makes a grinding noise (sounds like a coffee machine heating up water) quiet loud and does wake you up through the night. I don’t recommend this cheaply built newly...
