I wanted to make sure to leave a review, because when I was booking our hotel for Madrid I loved the central location but almost didn’t book this place due to the mixed reviews online. It sounds like there is a big difference between the superior and basic rooms, and we had to get a superior family room due to our group size so I can only speak to that room type. The hotel was somewhat hidden and it took us awhile to find the entrance, as it appeared to a a business entrance. Once we arrived, the front desk allowed us to check our many bags until the 2pm check-in time. This was much-appreciated since it was freezing and pouring rain. Upon check-in, we had modest expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was actually a full suite- 2 connected bedrooms, a very nicely updated bathroom, couch/TV in the living area, and a fully stocked kitchen with a microwave, fridge, washer, and kettle. There were AC/heat units in each room, and even a towel warmer in the bath. There were plenty of extra towels stocked, and it was very clean. We had a patio with 2 separate doors to access from the master and the living room, overlooking Gran Via. The location was absolutely fantastic- about a block from Plaza España, an easy walk to the royal palace and cathedral, and surrounded by hundreds of excellent restaurants and cafes. The only hiccup we had was with the buffet breakfast. The hotel added it to our reservation manually since the promo code wouldn’t work. When my daughter went to get breakfast she was harassed by the attendant, who then hovered over her while she was trying to eat until she heard back from her colleagues that we had breakfast included. I had to walk down to help because she freaked out my daughter. Overall, it was a lovely stay and I only wish we could’ve stayed longer. It’s not a 4-5 star hotel, but it was clean, comfortable, and very reasonably priced. Excellent choice for a family...
Read moreNos robaron €500.
Here's the translation of your text into English:
We were robbed of €500. We left a wallet with €2500 in a dresser, and before leaving, we asked for the room to be cleaned. When we returned, everything looked the same; the only thing they had done was change the towels, and when we checked the wallet, everything seemed fine.
The issue arose when we got home. We took out the wallet and counted the money we had in there. When we counted it, we realized we were missing €500. We never took the wallet out of the room. We made the mistake of not keeping it in the safe, but we never imagined someone would enter our room and steal money.
They took just €500 so we wouldn't notice since they left €2000 in the wallet.
It's really our word against nobody's because we didn't see or know who entered the room, and since we didn't count the money when we returned and only noticed after arriving home, there's not much we can do. I called reception, and they clearly said nothing. The only thing they mentioned was that the cleaning staff couldn't have done it because they had been working with them for years. But if it wasn't the cleaning staff, then it must have been someone else, which makes it dangerous.
I consider that money lost, but I’m sharing my experience so others can be careful. The hotel isn’t ugly, but this bad experience means I’ll never go back. If you go, don't leave anything valuable or store it in the safe. Don't make the mistake of leaving it there. We left the money there out of fear of being robbed outside, but it turned out worse. €500 isn't a small amount, but oh well.
The breakfast was very poor, with almost no variety. The yogurt and orange juice tasted awful. They only have one counter with a few basic items to start the morning. But I really don't recommend including breakfast, as you can have a much better and more varied breakfast elsewhere...
Read moreThis hotel is decent, good location, the room was actually clean and modern and spacious, so no complaints there. My major problem was with the level of noise. It’s not that the walls are too thin but the doors and door frames provide no sound insulation. And I don’t even mean from the hallway, where you hear every shoe heel and cough. The worst was the connector door between our room and the adjoining room. You could hear everything, everything, as if the people were right next to us (and peeing next to us)- I had to buy earplugs at the pharmacy. Plus you could also see everything in the next room because of the space between the actual door and the surrounding door frame. That, and the windows to the street also had zero sound insulation. Plus the reception lobby is pretty ghetto, the hotel also doubles as some sort of medial center, who knows, there was just a lot of commotion and confusion down there. In the end, the price and room quality weren’t that bad at all, and even the bathroom was pretty nicely set up. But the noise noise noise was too much for me to rate this any...
