The trip was fine and we appreciated having lodging pre booked and bags delivered. However some of the lodgings were really not good. The pension in palas de reí specifically was pretty bad. They did not have any sort of laundry service or reception. Our bags were stored in the bar below. When I went to pick them up a bar customer had their things on top of my bag. It sis not feel very secure or professional. The owners there also were not very welcoming. They seemed stressed out at every encounter and were rude with one of our group. They also didn’t open the bar until 8 am. So we had nowhere to leave our bags and had to wait outside the bar to be able to drop them off. And of course the owners were upset that all guests, who were also doing the Camino, were gathered so early to get in. It just seemed they were not willing to cater to the peregrinos. The other lodging that was odd was in O Pedrouzo. It was a very small apartment they had converted to individual rooms with the doors locked as if hotel rooms. We shared the apartment with other strangers and it really did not meet our expectations. In general we found there was nowhere to do laundry midway…we expected to be able to do so as advertised in the package, but found most lodgings did not offer it.
We did enjoy the other lodgings. Especially Sarria, Melide, and Santiago. Those 3 were lodgings were really nice and I would recommend them. Arzua was also nice. Not as nice in decor or location but the owner was incredibly helpful and very kind. They did our laundry for us (for a fee), which was much appreciated and needed. I would recommend that location again based on their great customer service. And the last thing I’ll rate is the medical insurance provided by the agency. I give it a 0. I needed medical care and there were no covered locations anywhere near the Camino de Santiago. I would have had to take a taxi to A Coruña or Lugo to get medical care under one of their covered centers they said. Honestly it was useless. The trip was good and we enjoyed it. I cannot say if I would use this service again though. It was convenient to have it all pre booked and worry free, but we really were not a fan of some of the lodgings booked for us and the medical seguro was truly of no help...
Read moreI chose this company over others that are promoted in the US first because they gave me a lot of follow-up through emails, they answered my questions quickly, second because I thought that being a Spanish company, They knew better the needs and requests of the clients: BIG MISTAKE !! !! While it is true that I made the decision almost overnight, there are no excuses for the poor service and the fatal selection of hotels that they made for me. In these days of Covid, tourism is barely recovering in Spain and the rest of my trip that I planned myself, I got excellent stays at a very good price, and in the same way, I looked for accommodation the same day without problems. This company used my lateness as an excuse to place me in low-class hotels and some far from the towns, having charged me for "superior accommodations." And the worst of the case is that when I presented my complaint, they answered me in an arrogant way, reminding me of the reservation policy (threatening me with not returning my money), and that I focus on the road and not on the accommodations…. How can i focus if i don’t have a good rest??? They did not respond to my emails and my WhatsApps, until Monday, when i was almost finished the way. It is NOT true that they work 24/7. They are NOT a trustworthy company, and they do not treat their customers with the respect that a customer deserves. Definitely, I do NOT recommend it, after they receive the payment, they don’t care the...
Read more1/5 Stars - Avoid Viajes Camino de Santiago at all costs!
I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received from Viajes Camino de Santiago. Initially, their email responses were friendly and prompt, which led me to believe they were a trustworthy company. They even promised to accommodate my pet-friendly needs and sent me a list of hotels in Santiago that appeared suitable after my own research.
However, everything fell apart upon arrival. I received last-minute WhatsApp messages stating that the hotels had to be changed due to unspecified reasons. The first replacement hotel reeked of cigarette smoke, and the second didn't have air conditioning. When I tried to contact Viajes Camino de Santiago, they took 48 hours to respond, downplaying the issues and even claiming that air conditioning is not common in Spanish hotels!
I was forced to find alternative pet-friendly hotels with air conditioning at the last minute, paying three times the original price. Thankfully, I was able to salvage my trip despite the hassle caused by this travel agency.
Warning: Do not trust Viajes Camino de Santiago with your vacation plans. Their promises are empty, and their customer...
