Masia Freixa (Oficina de Turisme de Terrassa) — Attraction in Terrassa

Developed in 1896 as a textile factory, between 1907 and 1910 this building was turned into the family home of the industrialist Josep Freixa. The Freixa country house is in the centre of Terrassa, in the Sant Jordi park. The house has a structure of arches and vaults inspired by Gaudí, white walls and a tall tower. The shiny grey aspect of the original roof is a result of small pieces of glass being added to the mortar. The porch has a white ceramic handrail. On the eastern side, next to the main section of the building, there is a rotunda with two floors.

The interior was designed by Joaquim Vancells and the furnishings in the dining room and the office still remain.

The garden, which was designed by the period artist Rafael Benet i Vancells, is of the Romantic style. This is one of the most representative gardens in Tarrassa from the beginning of the 20th century.

Dentro se encuentra la oficina de turismo, allí nos informan de todo. Las visitas guiadas son de lunes a domingo, de 1 hora de duración, el horario de 12h a 13h. Para poder hacerla tenéis que inscribiros por la web: visitaterrassa.cat o en la misma Masia para poder concretar día. En la tienda de la oficina de turismo encontraremos objetos para regalar inspirados en los edificios más emblemáticos y tradiciones de la ciudad.

Edificio es de inspiración gaudiniana, con formas redondeadas y naturaleza floral, bisagras en forma de mariposa. Veremos mecanismos muy avanzados para aquella época como: puerta corredera, ventanas con abertura en guillotina y radiador con puertas que servía para calentar los platos de comida. Se conversan puertas y grandes armarios de madera. Habitaciones superiores con vistas a la gran torre y a los tejados. El tejado está cubierto con cristales pequeños para que brille cuando haya sol. En la torre más alta no se puede subir. Veremos la estrecha escalera de caracol. A partir del segundo piso no hay barandilla y es peligroso subir. A ver si el ayuntamiento la pone y así poder ver preciosas vistas desde lo más alto.
