China Manor Hotel & Restaurant — Attraction in Colombo

I was with a group of 12 people visiting the restaurant for lunch. They were very friendly and providing options for dining at the begging but things changed dramatically after that. It took ages for the food to come down and the stewards were never proactive enough to check with us on water or drinks. We had to call them and ask what drinks are available to order. Then they delivered food but without any spoons to serve them.||||Stewards were not attentive to us as they were having discussions with each other somewhere else in the restaurant. We had to call them many times during our time there for more food, or drinks.||||However, we saw them providing a great service to a Chinese couple who sat next to us. I am not sure whether they want more foreigners in there than locals and that's the feeling I got during my visit there.||||BTW, this was my second visit to the place, first time was with a American national and the service offered there was considerably better than the experience I got on the second occasion.||||Locals, think twice before visiting this...

I visited China Manor with my family and we enjoyed both the ambiance and delicious authentic Sichuan style dishes. The décor has a vintage feel. The staff told us that most of the furniture, decorations, dining sets were imported from China. The spicy crab is a dish to die for if you appreciate Sichuan taste. We also loved the handmade dumplings. The staff were very friendly and offered us tips of where to visit. This is a Chinese owned hotel in a very dodgy suburb of Colombo. All the nice parts of the city are rather far. Walking around or hailing a Tuk Tuk from here is risky. getting in and out during the day is very difficult due to the heavy traffic in the area.
