The environment is very calm and peaceful. The temple is famous. Easy access by public transport. You can keep the slippers and helmets on the counter as well. There is plenty of parking space available. Beautiful and colourful architecture. Special poojas are held. During the Kandha Sasti period special poojas are held and the Sooran Poor is very famous and lots of people come to witness it During Maha Shivarathri dance and musical programs are organised from night to morning. The Gopuram is lit and very beautiful at night. Us, Colombo people have lots of memories in this temple with our families, friends and loved ones. If you visit here during an off-peak time, you can peacefully sit here and enjoy solitude. There are male and female peacocks in the cage as well. Even though the cage is spacious, I find it sad to see them caged. Plenty of parking space available in the parking lot and in the street.

Kathiresan Pillayar Kovil - built more than hundred years ago dedicated to the Thamizh Kadawul Murugan/Skandhan (Tamil god Murugan/Skandan). An Unique architecture and colorful sculptures of the Hindu gods in the Gopuram makes the temple an eye-catching holy place. There are separate shrines for God Vishnu, God Hanuman, Bhairavar (The fierce manifestation of Shiva), Saneeshwaran, Navagraha Baghavans. There are enough spaces for you to sit and pray or even meditating.

Calm environment to sit and pray. Its open from 6 to 8.30 in normal days. Special poojas happen for special occasions. Clean place. Can do special poojas by requesting the poosari earlier. Flowers and garlands are available outside the temple.

A pleasant place and i was went to this kovil on Thaipoosam.There are lot of crowd on that day. also free food giving also happens on that day. i eat very well. food was very tasty. a very big and beautiful Pillayar kovil on bambalappittiya.

Peaceful pillayar/Ganapathi temple in Galle Road with a large Murugan statue in front. Have separate prahaaram for each dainty... A true spiritual place to sit & meditate. Can see loads of croud during special days.
