My recent visit to Siam House Restaurant in Colombo left me with mixed impressions. While the menu prices seemed a tad high, the inclusion of numerous taxes and fees on the bill added an unexpected layer of complexity. The presentation of the dishes, notably my tom yum soup, was disappointing, featuring unsightly marks outside the bowl, indicating a lack of attention to detail.
The restaurant's interior, despite the air conditioning being on, was uncomfortably warm, and the decor felt outdated. Additionally, overhearing staff expressing frustration about extended working hours created an atmosphere that was less than enjoyable for diners.
Regrettably, the food quality fell short of the anticipated Thai standard. The soups, in particular, lacked the vibrant, natural flavors of authentic Thai ingredients and instead tasted more like a generic paste. Despite mangoes being out of season, the absence of mango-related dishes was surprising, especially when compared to other Thai restaurants that manage to offer such items.
On the beverage front, the non-alcoholic choices were notably limited, and the quality was subpar. This was particularly evident in the basic milkshake, which failed to meet expectations. While the staff exhibited friendliness, there appeared to be a need for additional professionalism and training.
In terms of the dessert offerings, the brownie was disappointingly dry. The presentation of the sticky rice with lychee lacked finesse, and the dish was marred by insufficient coconut milk.
In summary, there are several areas that could be improved to elevate the overall dining experience at Siam House...

I recently had the opportunity to order takeaway food from Siam house, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Upon receiving the meal, it was evident that the quality of the food did not meet my expectations.
First and foremost, the presentation was underwhelming. The attached image showcases a meager portion of four vegetable pieces accompanied by a scant amount of curry and plain rice. The lack of variety and portion size was highly disappointing, leaving me unsatisfied.
To make matters worse, the quality of the food was subpar. The egg in the dish was overcooked, resulting in a rubbery texture and a significant loss of flavor. This oversight reflects a lack of attention to detail and a disregard for maintaining a consistent level of quality in their dishes.
In conclusion, my recent takeaway experience from this Thai restaurant was highly unsatisfactory. The meager portion size, lackluster presentation, overcooked egg, and consistent decline in quality have left me disappointed and questioning the overall standards of the establishment. I hope they take this feedback into consideration and make the necessary improvements to regain their reputation for delivering...
Read moreI have been to this place few times before (more than year ago) Food was very good and customer service was very good. But this time it was disappointing. We were there for our 15 minutes none of the staff members came near us. It was not busy at all because its around 2.30pm. After long waiting l called one staff member who was behind the bar. He didn't pay much attention. Then another matured person came and took the order without even saying sorry for the delay. We ordered 4 dishes and two drinks. One of the drinks was a cocktail. Guy behind the bar brought the drinks after about another 20 minutes. Cocktail was the worst ever. Made using cordial and extremely sweet cannot drink. Then the other one (matured person) brought food but only 3 dishes. We thought next will bring later. But no sign till we finished our food. Then l asked him where is the other dish we ordered. Then he said forgot to tell us its not available. 😮 Food was not the best Thai taste. Taste more like Chinese food. Never try again. Very...
