Update 28-10-2023

I had visited Coffee Colombo in the past, and my previous experiences were quite good. However, my recent visit for a Jaffna lunch left me thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the Seafood and Mutton lunch pack, and it was priced at 1760+. Unfortunately, the taste was horrible, and the overall meal left much to be desired.

One of the significant letdowns was the lack of vegetables in the meal; it was essentially just a serving of dhall. A balanced and nutritious meal should include a variety of components, and this lunch pack fell far short of that standard.

Given my recent experience, I cannot recommend their Jaffna lunch package at all. I hope they can improve the quality and variety of their offerings in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Coffee Colombo and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff provided excellent service throughout my visit, despite the bustling weekend crowd.

I had the opportunity to try their Jaffna crab masala with pittu, Singapore Chilli Chicken, hot garlic prawns, and hot butter cuttlefish rice. Each dish was bursting with flavor and made with the perfect blend of spices. The crab kottu was a standout, offering a unique and mouthwatering combination.

To quench my thirst, I indulged in their Blue Curacao, Strawberry, and Lychee mojitos. Among the three, the Lychee mojito stood out with its refreshing and delightful taste. However, I was a bit disappointed with the masala chai at the end, as it didn't quite capture the authentic flavor I was hoping for.

Coffee Colombo is a popular spot, and it's no wonder why. The place was buzzing with energy and filled with families enjoying their meals. Keep in mind that they don't take reservations on weekends, so plan accordingly.

The only drawback I experienced was that the air conditioning struggled to keep up with the crowd, making it a bit uncomfortable at times. I hope the management addresses this issue to enhance the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, Coffee Colombo is a fantastic place to dine with your loved ones. The exceptional service, delectable food, and vibrant ambiance make it a top choice for a memorable meal. I highly recommend trying their Jaffna crab masala with pittu and the crab kottu—it's a treat for...

We recently had dinner at Coffee Colombo in Bambalapitiya, drawn in by its reputation for authentic Jaffna-style dishes. While the food met expectations, the customer service left us deeply disappointed, and unfortunately overshadowed the overall dining experience.

🍽️ Food Experience

We tried a variety of Jaffna-inspired dishes including Crab Kottu, Cuttlefish Kottu, Prawn Pittu Kottu, Vegetable Kottu, and Vegetable Pittu Kottu. The taste was satisfying, portions were generous (enough for one person), and the food captured authentic northern flavors.

We also ordered smoothies, but the Papaya smoothie in particular lacked flavor and was not enjoyable.

From a food perspective, we would recommend this place to those looking for a taste of Jaffna cuisine.

🙁 Service & Staff Behavior

Sadly, the customer service was a letdown:

One steward's behavior came off as insincere, with a fake smile and unhelpful attitude. We had to call another steward to get proper service.

A manager or supervisor in a white shirt rushed us through our meal and pressured us to leave even though we were still finishing.

Another steward (in a yellow uniform) quickly cleared our smoothie glasses as if we were taking up too much time.

This kind of rushed and impolite service ruined what could have been a peaceful dinner. It felt like the staff were more focused on clearing tables and boosting turnover than on giving customers a good experience.

⭐ Overall Rating: 3.0/5

Food: ★★★★☆ Service: ★☆☆☆☆ Ambience: ★★★☆☆ Value for Money: ★★★★☆ Customer Experience: ★★☆☆☆

Coffee Colombo has great potential with its authentic flavors and creative menu, but the lack of proper customer service seriously affects its reputation. We hope the management reconsiders their approach and trains the team to treat diners with the respect and care they deserve. Until then, it's difficult to recommend for a relaxing or...

We visited this place because a friend recommended. But we faced a shocking and very unpleasant situation. The very arrogant steward took our order and instead of one dish we ordered he served us an expensive dish which we didn’t order. It was very clear they served us a dish that someone has rejected or which they have prepared mistakenly. That was very surprising and we questioned him right at that time. Then this guy harassed us by saying that he gave only the dish we ordered. And throughout our meal time this person was rude and was walking around us giving very bad expressions. We silently had our meal and then we were disappointed and I asked the person to call for their manager. And then another rude woman appeared saying she was the owner of the restaurant and we very nicely tried to explain our bad experience but she was not even ready listen to us. She also was rude and gave us reasons that they only serve what we order. She did not have at least the basic customer care and completely ignored us and went away. I have visited many restaurants which serve Indian and Jaffna food and this place was horrible compared to other places. Yes, I agree their food is tasty but their attitude for the customers and the rudeness is shameful. Serving a wrong food to someone else to recover their mistake is a very bad practice and in general the managers and owners are very humble and nice to their customers. But this owner lady was very far from being nice. I normally recommend my friends and my circle about good restaurants and I will never ever recommend this place to anyone hereafter. I feel sad for this business where they have hired street bullies as their...

We recently had dinner at Coffee Colombo, drawn in by its reputation for authentic Jaffna-style dishes. From a food perspective, it lived up to the hype. The Crab Kottu, Cuttlefish Kottu, and Prawn Pittu Kottu were all some what flavorful. The quality of the food(not the quantity) is the only reason for the one-star rating. Unfortunately, our dining experience was completely ruined by the unprofessional and disrespectful service, which seemed to be driven by the owner's direct supervision. The core issue is that we were constantly rushed, showing a complete disregard for the cultural norm of enjoying a peaceful meal and conversation. The staff's behavior included: * The bill was printed and brought to our table before we had even finished our dinner. * A staff member then explicitly told us we needed to leave because other customers were waiting. Even before we finish having our dessert. * A person in a yellow uniform instructed another staff member to clean our table while we were still seated. All of this occurred with the owner present and observing the restaurant floor. It's clear that the priority is to turn over tables as quickly as possible, not to provide a good customer experience. No matter how good the food is, this kind of disrespect from the owner and staff is unacceptable. We will never visit this place again, and I cannot recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing or enjoyable meal.

I recently visited coffee club after seeing their Instagram marketing and this was my experience. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant were lovely, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. The staff seemed attentive and friendly. However, I was disappointed with the portion sizes; they were notably small for the price. The lack of generosity in portions affected the overall satisfaction with the meal. Even for some sides like Pol sambol they don’t provide even after buying full dishes they still would want us to buy a seperate whole meal just for the sambole. Moreover, there was an unfortunate incident where I found a hair in my food, which was a considerable letdown and affected my dining experience negatively. I hope the restaurant takes immediate measures to improve its hygiene standards to avoid such incidents in the future. The owners were busy doing Instagram stories instead of talking to us about the horrible experience we had. There was a real disconnection between the owners and the staff. Really feel for the staff because the owners were just hiding away and giving orders like typical old school master and slave type concept which should not happen in 2023! I would not recommend this restaurant to any person sadly!! Fun fact: don't get deceived by instagram stories. They are not the same in real life!
