Lanka Living Gallery — Attraction in Galle

So happy to have found this beautiful space while wandering around Galle Fort. The owner Tomas is a true artist, doing something very unique and interesting - I sort of wanted them all and found it hard to decide but in the end I bought three pictures and a few postcards as I loved them too!

I would like to leave a separate review for Eranga the incredible masseuse at the upstairs spa. This was without question the best massage of my life - people say that all the time, but this is actually the one please take my word for it. It is like a prayer - so focused, strong and meditative, so completely surrendering like he has ten hands and a sixth sense. Everything is perfect - the room is beautiful, the bed comfortable, the music is galvanising. ‘I know what is painful, I feel it’ he says at one point and this is true. I found myself thinking ‘this is a special man living out his dharma’ - I can only hope to...

We discovered the Lanka Living Gallery a few weeks ago, and it has changed how we see the beautiful country of Sri Lanka. Talking with the owner Tomas inspired us to look around our environment and to see the true beauty in this country. We purchased a large picture to hang in our house in Canada. We have returned to the Gallery, the coffee shop upstairs and the fantastic Spa as well. It is a true Gem of a gallery and such a pleasure to talk with Tomas. A beautiful, rustic little gallery and cafe in the heart of Galle. The space and the art are evocative and expansive and relatable in the most expansive sense. Tomas - the gallery owner and artist - engages customers/viewers most enthusiastically with an almost childish twinkle in his eye as he speaks about his work. The art captures mundane moments of tropical, sea-side semi-urban life in a most compelling up-close and personal manner and it is a delight to observe it.
