Valhallabadet — Attraction in Göteborgs Stad

Note for other clueless English tourists: ask about the rules before entry! This is definitely set up for the locals, not for you. We only ventured in because our hotel pool was closed for maintenance. Don't go into the jacuzzi/hot tub if the bubbles aren't on. Don't take small children (below Stage 3 swimming lessons) if the children's pools are closed - the 25m pool is very deep. Our 6 year old (Stage 4) was fine; 4 year old not so much. Bring your towel into the pool area - you must be dry when you re-enter the locker area. Shower off frequently. If you're not sure if you should shower before going from one facility to another, just do it. Four stars for the facilities which are ample but in a variable state of repair. Five stars for the very indulgent and forgiving Swedes for teaching...

The facility in general is okay. The shower place and changing room are quite below average.

In the changing room, lots of lockers are broken.

In the ladies shower room, there are only 2 to 3 shower heads working properly. You have to use one hand to hold the rest shower heads. The sensors of the shower heads are not good.

Today there were a few politic posters in the changing room. Before the official closing time, it was RUNNING OUT OF WATER in the shower place, while the male staff was using great amount of water to clean the place. Then a few male staff also showed up in the ladies changing room (it's not the male-staff hour). Two were just chatting with each other in the bathroom area. Then THE LIGHT WAS OUT for around 5 minutes. This is 'a very nice horrible movie scene'...

Most organized Swimming complex in Central Gothenburg. Prices are reasonable and you have several options. There is a car park near by. There are separate dressing and washing area for Men and Women. Nudity is a common in the locker rooms. There are 2 full sized good swimming pools and the water temperature is controlled but bit cold. Diving option is also available. Take your own swimming kit and towels.

Please be aware that your unattended belongings might be stolen even inside the changing area. Please put all valaubles in the locker and safely lock it before leaving the area. There are no cameras in the changing area and you can only file a complaint in the event...
