Mikado Teppanyaki & Izakaya — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

I like the food here even though it is a bit pricy and the salad they give at the beginning is so cheap and plain. However, the reason for not giving a perfect rating is that the service quality varies even on the same day between different tables. Here is the story:

The first time I was there with a friend, we were treated with chocolate balls at the end of our meal to our surprise. The second time I was there again during the time people didn't go to the restaurants much because of covid, we were given both green tea and fried bananas as the treat which made me bring another friend to the place yesterday. After eating our tasty Yakitori and fried Udons, we expected some treat again as the couple sitting next to us got which happened to order almost the same dishes as we did. Instead, we were asked if we would like to order tea or coffee. That was the sign really saying we wouldn't get any sweets this time. I don't know if there is threshold that you are supposed to hit to deserve the treat but yesterday we spend more than the previous two visits. I hope only reason was the crowd in the restaurant and nothing else.

I will still go to this restaurant but I will be more careful with what I am ordering and how much I am...

Incredibly poor service!

Always remind myself to never return here due to incredibly disinterested and poor service from the employees. The food is good to mediocre, but with few Japanese gastronomic choices in Gothenburg, this is still the place to turn to when you're hungry for food like, Tempura, Yaki Niku.

Ordered food there more than 10 times, never been treated in a nice way. The staff does not wish you welcome or greet you in any way. They are mostly behind the counter and does nothing to ask if you want something more to drink or if you want dessert.

Every time I'm there, there has either been a hassle with the menu (they forgot to inform that they do not serve a certain kind of dish that day) or that they make errors or malfunctions in the payment.

Now, I have given them one last chance to prove me wrong, but again, they let me walk out of there 700kr poorer and 700kr of which I could spent a good experience at any other restaurant.

The food - Okay, no direct complaint there. But I will never go there again because of their lack of interest...

This breaks my heart as service was absolutely perfect. 10/10 for service. Absolutely loved people there.

But the food was disappointing. 😭 We ordered C and D from the special menu. Everything started so good. The salad was perfect. I could eat a kilo of that salad. The miso soup was very tasty. Our expectations were high for this place. And it sure was promising to start with. But then, we got starters. Sushi and sashimi. Oh wow. The rice was cold and clumpy. The nori was all soggy. No ponzu for sashimi.

The main dish was super disappointing. The rice was dry and not hot. The meat was OK. But there was nothing Japanese about it. (What's up with the big chuck of grilled red onion) if the restaurant is using the same garnish for everything, you know it's a red flag.

The Umeshu tonic was very tasty. Yuzu sake was very good. I wish they'd serve it with crushed ice.
