I've been to Gothenburg so many times and I even live there now. I can't believe I haven't been to the botanical garden before. It's like the free, more chill and romantic tourist version of Liseberg. If you're anything like me with an interest in flowers and plants, you'll love this place. Every square meter you traverse through this garden, you'll be greeted by different and beautiful flora. Always something interesting to look at or to photograph. It's the perfect place here in Gothenburg to take someone on a date as well, not to mention the subconscious connections one could make with sex and flowers. By the end of a date, you'll probably be holding your SO's hand unless you screwed something up along the way. The steeper parts of the park allow many chances for hand holding as you both try to stay together and upright. The Botanical Garden in Gothenburg is a dream for photographers, families and couples alike. Be sure to visit this place regularly if you live or travel to Gothenburg!!

This is one of my favorite places in Gothenburg. I will for sure come back when it's summer time. They have different varieties of plants and flowers. You will be amazed how well maintained and well cared the plants are. You will enjoy reading the names of the plants and flowers and appreciate their beauty. It's such a big place so it's easy to spend whole day here. There's a trail that you can follow in the forest. We actually saw a red squirrel when we were here. It's very quite and such a relaxing place to take a short or long walk. They have a playground for your children as well. Such a perfect place for a Sunday picnic for the whole family. They also have a restaurant if you don't feel having a picnic here. You can also buy flowers and plants in the shop or they call it nursery. I actually bought different colors of tulips. This is one of the few places in Gothenburg that you shouldn't miss.

Hi! One of my favorite places on earth, I recommend coming here on a sunny day. It is pure magic, and the whole park smells wonderful! It's a great park for walking, having a picknick or just bringing your children so that they could play. They have a lot of different types of trees and plants, and it's a really beautiful mix of all of the earths plants and flowers. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that the coffé place/fika stället is a bit expensive and that they don't have much vegetarian food. But except for that the park is wonderful. When you walk in the park you almost forget where you are, it's very peaceful. The park is as well very clean and well taken care of, great job staff! I truly recommend everyone to visit this park if you have the chance.

Själva parken utgör ungefär 40 hektar av hela trädgårdens totala area på 175 hektar. Den övriga delen på 135 hektar ligger i Änggårdsbergens naturreservat. I parken odlas ungefär 12 000 olika arter i olika sektioner för olika typer av växter. Området avgränsas av Bortre Änggården i sydväst, Carl Skottbergs Gata i nordväst, Främre Änggården i nordost, Sahlgrenskas sjukhusområde i öster och Änggårdsbergen i öster och söder. Parkens högsta punkt är Österberget med 91 meter över havet, i parkens östra del. Därefter Håberget med 80 meter, i dess västra del. Entréområdet med sina 17 meter över havet, utgör den lägsta punkten. Trädgården är mycket varierad och uppbyggd i kuperad terräng, där det har varit möjligt att avgränsa och kontrastera olika anläggningar mot varandra. Bland annat finns Klippträdgården, som med sina drygt 5 000 arter fått utmärkelse av Guide Michelin. Vidare finns Japandalen, vilken skapades på 1950-talet av dåvarande intendenten Tor Nitzelius och bland annat består av vildinsamlat material från Ostasien, rhododendrondalen med bortåt 500 arter och kultursorter av rhododendron, Lökträdgården som rymmer en stor kollektion av vildinsamlade lökväxter, Örtagården och Perennträdgården. Trädgårdens naturpark och ytterområde är sedan 1975 fridlysta. Carl Skottberg hade redan 1925 försökt få stadsfullmäktige att fridlysa hela naturparken.Skyddet av Botaniska omfattar: Bevaringsprogram 1975: entrébyggnader, kanslibyggnad, Stora Änggården, magasinet, "Båtsmanshuset" och lusthuset. Natur- och kulturvårdsprogram 1979: trädgårdens norra del redovisas som värdefull miljö. Skydd enligt Naturresurslagen 2 kap. Riksintresse: hela området. (Riksintresseområdet omfattar även partier i öster.) Åtskilliga namn inom trädgården är gamla namn som behållits. Till exempel Håberget där förledet är ett gammalt ord för hög. Knollen är ett dialektalt norskt ord för knallen och Stampeberget kommer av att man invid det ska ha stampat vadmal. I naturparken finns ett par mindre sjöar där Finnsmossens namn ska härstamma från att här bott finnar och Trinde mosse av att den är rund (=trind). Torbjörns mosse och Lille-Jons damm är namngivna av idag bortglömda personer. Axlemossen har eventuellt fått sitt namn av den bergsudde som går ut i mossen likt en axel. Källa: Wikipedia
