A perfect day-out location for nature lovers. There are plenty of activities which you can do out there. Right from admiring the bird watching, watching seal and penguin playing in water, playing games either for adults or kids (football, handball, beach volleyball , golf), visit to the zoo (one of the oldest in the country) mountain top viewpoints of the city, hilly terrain, castle forest, a big garden for family or friends fun activities, after-work meeting place, socialising, picnics, dining, playground, relaxing, jogging and many many more.

In Christmas you can admire the beautiful decoration and lighting all around the garden, and in midsummer you can dance with the troups in typical Swedish style folk dance. From the fitness marathon (Göteborgsvarvet) to peaceful yoga session, to enjoying open air theatre with family and friends, wayout west and may more, there are plenty to do and it's easy to get hold of activities just by following their website. There are few good restaurants which you can give a try. Almost the complete Park is designed wheelchair accessible. There are animals History : The park was inaugurated in 1876 and before a park facility it was a part of 140 hectares of forest named Sundshagen, which was rich in wildlife and plants and oak, Linden, beech, mapple trees. Slottskogen also has Gothenburg national history Museum inside (free of charge entry), frisbee golf and adventure golf (bookable), pony ride for kids (check the timing).Children Zoo is best

A huge park held dear by the inhabitants. You'll see lots of families here and people jogging. There is also disc golf ( for free if you bring your own discs) and mini golf, some restaurants and café. Bikes and inlines are allowed. There are not too many toilets around so make sure to have your kids go in the ones at the entrance first? For families, Slottskogen has the country's biggest playground, which is very popular. It has swings, a huge slide, a small manual carrousel, jumping pits, a huge whale to climb inside, a water play area, a small train for younger kids and an indoor area with toikets and microwaves etc. On weekends and summer there aresupervised hours with staff that organise things for children and lend some activity toys. The bbq is burning and you can bring your own sausages or buy them cheap. The parque also has a small petting zoo, a pond with seals, some penguins and wildlife animals but all that takes some walking as the parque is rather large. In summer the area is often used for music festivals and a few times a year they organise running races in there. The area Linné that ends in the parque has a lot of restaurants and small boutiques, all quite expensive...

The easiest way by public transport to Slottsskogen, one of the most popular parks of Gothenburg, is to take a tram or bus to Linnéplatsen. The open entrance, just beside the stop, has no gate and is widely accessible to everyone from all directions. Symbolically, a large sculpture called “Community” welcomes visitors to the multi-purpose meeting place for everyone. On a sunny day, the large green fields at the entrance is perfect for picnickers and other leisure activities and outdoor games. A common sight by the Community sculpture, every Saturday at 1 – 2 p.m. is the Gothenburg Falun Gong practitioners performing their exercises. Throughout the year, different music, sports and cultural events take place in the park. Otherwise, the park boasts a zoo opened throughout the day and all year round and a special children’s zoo opened daily between 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., apart from its unique gardens and vegetations in the extensive...

A beautiful park in the center of Gothenberg (or Göteborg in Swedish). In the past the area used to be the King's hunting area. Today a lovely area for recreation. Perfect for family with kids but also for any one looking for peace of mind or outdoors activity. The park has some nice walking trails and an outdoor gym. It has even an an area which can be described as a little zoo with penguins, seal, moos, deers, etc.. Additionally there are few play grounds for kids (one of which has a light exhibition at dark which allows kids to keep on playing at the dark hours of winter). There are few coffee shops and dining posdibilities. The entrance to the park is free. Deffently worth a visit if you are in the area. It is located at a good proximity to the natural history museum.
