Schützenmattpark — Attraction in Basel

The park seems during the day pretty nice. Unfortunately in the night some people enjoy to party there. So you might find glass shards, cigarette butts and used condoms in the vicinity. The childrens sandbox seems to be of special attraction to all of the above and frequently smells of urin. Not sure about the female public restrooms but the one for men is mostly occupied with men in need for another kind of relief than intended. Very nice park in the middle of the city. The playgrounds (recently extended) are a good fit for toddlers and kids, and the the big grass areas are well fitted for a game of Kubb or a BBQ. During daytime, there is a nice mix of families but also adults and young people. There is a cafe in the center (pavilion) and two kiosks. A Migros-Partner (open on Sundays) is nearby, selling beer and other food supplies.

A park close to the city that invites young and old. They changed their concept a couple of years ago and want to attract all kinds of ages. It's working well! My godchild loves their playground and I like the coffee at the restaurant. ☺️ There is a public restroom, so thats a big plus! We organised a charity run as a school there twice. I would choose it again...
