Bayleaf - Gourmet Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Basel

Visited this Indian restaurant in Basel on our way to Zurich for dinner. It seems like Basel has a lot of Indian restaurants so it was difficult to pick one but we gave this a try. We had the Butter Chicken with aloo paratha and cheese (it was actually paneer) naan and Chole Bhatura (you have to order Channa Masala and Bhatura separately) and Gajar Halwa for dessert which was served with a nut flavor ice cream. Overall I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. The butter chicken was delicious and had perfect flavors and seasoning. The aloo paratha and paneer naan were great, hot, well cooked and tasty. But the Channa Masala didn’t have any salt (not less salt but it was actually missing or at least thats what it tasted like), taste was fine but really bland. Far away from when you are expecting punjabi chole with your bhaturas. Bhaturas were served patted down. If you are a big bloated popping bhatura fan, you will be disappointed. Other than this, the restaurant’s ambience was nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They did serve papadam with various chutneys which was great!

Bayleaf is the best Indian restaurant in Basel!

We decided to break our fast at Bayleaf restaurant on the evening of 11.05.20; during the month of Ramadhan; on the first day eating out was made permissible after months of Lockdown ! We were desperate for a great night out and got more than we could’ve hoped for when we decided to go to Bayleaf!

The service n food were impeccable! There was so much variety and flavour, no two dishes tasted similar. Everything was fresh, divine and delectable, made with real passion from the heart!

A highly recommended, unforgettable dining experience awaits you! Please eat in or get a takeaway soon-you will not be disappointed! I have been a regular client for the past 5 years and I consider the Bayleaf as my little island to relax and get an extraordinary treatment for my senses!
