The Lindwurm Museum in Stein Am Rhein, right on the Swiss-German border, is a hidden gem worth exploring. Nestled in a beautifully preserved mansion, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into life during that period. The rooms are carefully restored, filled with authentic furniture, decor, and artifacts that transport you back in time.

One of the highlights was wandering through the house and discovering the period rooms, including the kitchen, bedrooms, and living areas, each filled with charming details. The museum does a fantastic job of blending history with a sense of lived-in warmth, giving visitors a real sense of how people lived and worked in this region centuries ago.

The exhibits are well-curated, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to provide additional insights. While the museum might be small, it is packed with interesting displays that make it a great visit, especially if you are interested in cultural history.

There is also a play room that allows you to touch everything and even put on some period clothing.

Overall, the Lindwurm Museum is a delightful and enriching stop, especially if you’re in the area. It may not be a large museum, but it is full of charm and offers a unique perspective on Swiss life and heritage. A great way to spend...

"I would like to recommend the Linwurm Museum. This small museum gave me the chance to visit a middle-class to luxury house from the 19th century. The decorations make you feel like you've stepped back in time. When I walked in, I was greeted by a receptionist who was very kind and informative. She asked if we were students to ensure that we received the student discount. She provided us with guidance and directions on how to navigate the museum.

The museum includes living quarters for the owner of the house and his family, as well as another building that served as the working house and living quarters for the housekeepers. In this building, my friend and I had the chance to wear historical clothing and sleep on a straw bed, which was a highlight for me. Unlike other museums where everything is old and dusty, here everything is clean and well-maintained. We spent about three hours there, enjoying all the rooms.

I think it was fortunate for me that not too many people visit this museum on the day, but I would highly recommend it and give full compliments to the people who maintain it, as well as to the owner for kindly allowing visitors to explore their beautiful house and learn how people lived...

What a fantastic museum. I was expecting it to be quite small but it's huge! Many, many types of rooms - it seems it was a farmhouse among other things before. You can also see servants quarters and loft areas complete with period furniture and endless artefacts. Also, considering the country you're in, amazing value for money. Surprised to have the place to ourselves, this is a real find and I consider a must see while in this...
