Went to this place with all open minded view. Atmosphere is friendly, casual yet not well decorated. Still certain structures from the Covid restrictions hanging on the ceiling.

Ordered schnitzel and cordon bleu. Came with rice with butter/wine sauce and croquettes. Complimentary house salad: 6 over 10 Rice: 7.5 over 10 Cordon bleu: 6 over 10 Schnitzel: 5 over 10 Croquette: 4 over 10

Wolfgang was kind and friendly. Place is serving really casual menu. Do not expect a proper restaurant standards. Prices are ok but portions are too big. You certainly will not leave this place hungry. I would much prefer decreasing the size of the proportions and increasing the quality. Oil used for frying, breading (advertised as home made) locally made white wine selections were all mediocre.

Looked very cute from outside but not recommendable unless for an informal occasions...

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the moment we were seated, the service was unwelcoming. The waiter was not pleasant, seemed uninterested, and gave the impression that serving us was a burden rather than part of his job. This set a negative tone for the whole meal.

Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the poor service. The dishes were bland, poorly cooked, and far from the quality one would expect for the price. Portions felt unbalanced, presentation was sloppy, and nothing tasted fresh. Instead of enjoying the meal, I found myself just wanting to leave.

Between the unfriendly attitude of the staff and the bad food, I cannot recommend this place. There are plenty of other restaurants where you can get both decent service and a meal that’s worth eating – this is not...

We had the most wonderful meal here tonight! This cozy little restaurant is like visiting your favorite auntie's house for an authentic home cooked meal. It is not a tourist trap with low quality precooked food to slop to masses; it's authentic Stein Am Rhein. This beautiful village is about character and the traditional food at Gutenberg is prepared by one woman who makes every dish with love.
