Cihou Market — Attraction in Kaohsiung

It's a long shaded alley with several bathrooms. There are many shops, but they pretty much sell the same items. Dried fish, squids, etc. There may be a handful of shops that sell different items, but they are few.

The sellers are nice people. They will give you samples to taste and you buy the ones you like. Sample them all without any issues. Sample items from the beginning of the market to the end of the market.

Been here almost 10yrs ago, and have returned here. Probably it’s due to travel non peak season, there’s no crowd, and about half the stalls aren’t operating. Feels bit empty.

Seafood goods and snacks are available here, however if this is ur first stop on reaching Kaohsiung, keep in mind that goods purchased here needs to be stored in the fridge and have limited shell life. long story short, i accidentally burnt my finger while eating the seafood on qijing street, so i was holding a ice bag while browsing in this market.

One stranger aunty saw me, and asked if i was hurt? I nodded, and she grabbed my hand and stormed to another vendor who sold chinese medicine and asked for this mint paste and applied to my finger.

It was definitely a touching and unforgettable memory
