This beach is on a small Island which was recently connected by a road tunnel. But still people flock here at weekends and holidays. It has changed in recent years due to "Taiwan fame" this is where a place is mentioned on TV and then everyone has to experience the place. So it is now quite commercialised. The facilities as a result are good, I.e toilets, changing cubicles. There are loads of sea food outlets and stalls, and you can hire electric bikes, some with 4 seats. Worth a visit but go during the week or out of holiday time unless you like crowds and ques. Many people like to go to the Island by a ferry which takes pedestrians and scooter/motor cycles etc. Again there can be very long ques...

Cijin Island and its beach offer a unique Taiwanese experience. The black sand beach is a novelty, though not the cleanest. Rent a bike and explore the island, including the old fort with its historical significance and great views. The real highlight is the bustling seafood market near the ferry terminal. Fresh, affordable, and incredibly diverse – a seafood lover's paradise! Weekends can get very crowded, so consider visiting on a weekday if possible. While the beach itself isn't pristine, the overall atmosphere, food, and island exploration make Cijin a worthwhile day trip from Kaohsiung. Don't expect a relaxing beach day, but rather a vibrant cultural and...

I went to Cijin beach yesterday at 5 and to Sizihwan beach today at 5. Both beaches had "no swimming" signs and neither had lifeguards. There was nobody swimming in Cijin or surfing, and an annoying rope with buoys across the beach. (I also saw the signs of a quad bike having driven around, which I assume is the annoying security people). I swam and afterwards one local guy did too. There were about 10 or 15 people swimming or surfing in Sizihwan, half foreigners. Plus there were lots of students hanging around on the beach. To conclude, I would swim in Sizihwan in future because there are other swimmers, more people around, and it's much closer to get to. And I'd...

When visiting Kaohsiung, if you’re looking for a full day of relaxation and leisure after several days of exploration, Cijin Peninsula is an excellent choice. This long, narrow strip of land is renowned for its laid-back coastal charm and fresh seafood, including grilled fish, sashimi, and grilled squid—making it a must-visit destination for food lovers. Cijin Beach, a favorite among locals and tourists alike, offers a perfect setting for swimming, kite flying, or simply watching the breathtaking sunset. It’s an ideal spot to unwind and soak in the serene seaside atmosphere.

Travel Cafe Eat Drink - Malaysia & Asia The cool Cijin District (旗津; Qijin) is a slender island in front of Kaohsiung which serves as a natural breakwater for the harbor. The district is filled with seafood restaurants selling freshly caught seafood which can be prepared right after you pick it. There is a market selling local produce, snacks, and right across the street popular beach bar which gets crowded during sunset. It's a pleasant island and relaxing place to take a break. Ferry fare from Hamasen pier is NT$30. Bikes and scooters can be brought aboard.
