Kaohsiung Lighthouse, also known as Cihou Lighthouse, is a must-visit landmark in Kaohsiung! This historic lighthouse, built in 1883 by British engineers, stands proudly on Cihou Mountain, offering breathtaking views of Kaohsiung Harbor and the Taiwan Strait. The lighthouse’s unique white octagonal structure is both elegant and iconic, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. One of the highlights of visiting Kaohsiung Lighthouse is the panoramic view it offers. From the top, you can see the bustling harbor, the vast ocean, and the cityscape of Kaohsiung. It’s especially stunning at sunset when the sky is painted with hues of orange and pink, creating a picturesque backdrop for the lighthouse. The surrounding area is equally charming. The lighthouse is part of a larger cultural park that includes the historic Cihou Fort and scenic walking trails. The trails are well-maintained and provide a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Along the way, you’ll find informative plaques that detail the history and significance of the lighthouse and fort. The lighthouse is also notable for being the only one in Taiwan open for night visits. The night view is spectacular, with the lighthouse illuminated against the dark sky, offering a different but equally beautiful perspective. Read moreYou know 無名 LOVES lighthouses. 無名 was sort of on tour of them here in Taiwan now. 無名 felt like 無名 needed to come to this creative archaic land before China... and after America... This lighthouse is really nice and if 無名 was a young man, 無名 would try to bring a girl 無名 likes here so... Lighthouses are so romantic, don't you think? 無名 does. Dark starlit skies casting intense soft shadows illuminated by infrequently timed flashes from the lighthouse lense. Please consider 無名 and 無名's girl with their synchronous breathing and thumping hearts softly pounding out of time. 無名 is having problems concentrating because of the silence he hears. Well then again, lighthouses are lonely places too, don't you think? 無名 does. Consider their solitary keepers conversing with themselves, slowly driven to insanity by their isolation together. 無名 heard their screams at this very moment. Everything about these most peaceful places in the world is so dangerous too, don't you think? 無名 does. You know what 無名 means: angry storms happily crashing into the sea. 無名 says whoever you are, "thank you Lord," it is here that the light is 無名's harbor of safety, don't you think? 無名 does. You see what 無名 is getting at? 無名 does. There is so much indistinct duality and dichotomy that is apparent, but really so little to juxtapose and contrast. 無名 is certain he is confused. Lighthouses are the liminal zone where land and sea meet. This is very clear to 無名. They are someplace not dry, somewhere not wet. One thing 無名 knows is that 無名 is unsure that 無名 wants to be here, right now over there only at this very moment to include forever. 無名 HATES so much 無名 is a prisoner to lighthouses. You understand this is incoherent, don't you...
Read moreThis is a perfect spot watching the ships in and out of Kaohsiung harbour. A lot of photographers always form a line along the pier. You can see giant ocean cargo liner, fishing boats, if you are lucky and have plenty of time, you can spot Taiwan's battleships and coast guard petrol ships. The ships will line up straight when they approach. This place is like the gate guarding the harbour. Lately, many people operate their drones to film the ships. If you plans to do so, please remember, regardless the necessary permit you need apply, you can tail the ships but do not intercept the courses that the ships head for. After the photo session, you can visit the town nearby. There are plenty of sea food restaurants. The place has been changed since crowds of tourist coming over like a flock of locus. Most of the restraints only serves fast finger sea foods, mostly deep fried. But if you are patient enough, you can still find some decent kitchens that cook good sea food. In a simple word, don't...
