This is a great spot to watch the sunset. There is a gate to block cars in the evening, but you can easily walk around and find a good spot to watch the sun go down. Its a paved road all the way to the temple, and so its not treacherous to walk back down in the dark if you have a flashlight. Just be aware that the road towards the temple is uphill...

善光寺」，不同一般寺院的華麗裝飾，「善光寺」的外觀十分樸實，雖然「善光寺」平日不對外開放，但在櫻花綻放的季節，在善光寺的入口階梯，仍然可以欣賞到寒櫻及山櫻花，搭配入口有兩個石燈籠，別有一番風味，是北投另一處賞櫻的祕境。

北投善光寺，為淨土宗西山深草派之寺廟，是當時日籍移民之信仰中心。寺中佛舍利塔甚為著名，供奉由日本請回之釋迦牟尼佛舍利。

北投善光寺源出日本長野縣信濃善光寺，由大本願第一百十七世誓圓尼公上人擇現址開基創設於民國21年 (日本昭和7年、西元1932年)，並立第一世中野全能上人為住持。民國35年，台灣光復之初，善光寺法燈榮續至淨空寶珠中興如意上人。民國48年，善光寺日式的社殿於「八七水災」中遭毀，遂於民國51年建造新殿，並在同年9月恭建寶塔奉安，奉祀釋迦牟尼佛舍利，是為該寺最重要特點。 善光寺主祀釋迦牟尼佛，因此在釋迦殿即供奉三寶佛...
