Beautiful hot springs. Sulfur smell is great, a whole experience. This is the main and the most famous one known as Thermal Valley but there are many others in the area. If you have time, the area deserves a full day/ weekend to get know due to that there's a lot of stuff to do related to the hot springs and their history. I will start visiting the central park, the library and the hot springs museum (highly recommended). In that part you can watch hot springs too. Al the end of the day I lol go finally to thermal valley. Regarding food, as it was a Japanese influenced area, thera are a lot of ramen restaurants, so I'll definitely try one. As it in a extense area and the hot springs are the main attraction I highly recommend to stay in a hotel for a full weekend to relax where you will able to book a sauna in the hot springs and a massage. There is also a traditional Japanese-style house that nowadays is the Beitou museum, a couple miles from the thermal valley that I suggest visiting. Pd. A blissful geological monument, particularly on a cool day when there are more vapours. It's just a metro ride from central Taipei. You can walk a few kilometers from Xin Beitou metro station. Although the walk is not really pleasant, passing through a dilipidated township and speeding automobiles on a narrow road, not to mention the mediocre meal options in Beitou, the atmosphere of the valley itself will make you feel like being directed to New Zealand or somewhere else people lives long and healthy.
