Getting to hotel: ||Pretty easy during the day. Get to Beitou station, ask the information counter to help you call the hotel. Take note that shuttle services take place every half hourly upon calling. ||You can walk from XinBeitou station.. Be forewarned that the journey is literally an uphill one. Tiring!||||Location: ||Pretty close to the Thermal Valley! Need to walk a bit to get food.||||Hotel staff||Depending on who you get, some are friendly some are nonchalant and just do their job.||||Breakfast food||Typical taiwan-style breakfast. Good but not much variety||||Rooms||The difference betwn the double rooms and the economy double rooms are vast. VERY vast. Double room = luxury. Economy = cramped (& maybe unsafe. Read below)||||When I entered the economy room, the crampedness wasn't an issue for me. The issue was in the safety of the bathroom / private hot spring area. The bathroom window had blinds on it. Outside the window is a walkway which, according to the hotel, is not open to ppl. The problem? There was a ladder outside meaning repairmen do pass through. The blinds had various big gaps in between some parts, making it easy to peer in. Really. If you don't mind, then no issues.||||The double room (which I upgraded to out of concern with a hefty fee because checked in) also had blinds with some gaps but it is not adjacent to a walkway for potential peeping toms since it is on a higher floor. In fact, it felt luxurious. I enjoyed the stay...
Read moreThe hotel is newer than seen from foto. Maybe the colour tone and funishing make it look older in foto than it is supposed to be. Immediately give u a spacious and grand feel when u enter. Like the free ginger tea at the lobby. The room is of 5 stars standard. There is some hiccups when arranging the transport from beitou station. At least check few hours before reaching. They have free shuttle to/fro hotel and Beitou/xin Beitou every 30 mins, however they can sometimes be full or used to run their own errand and can be erratic. I called and email like 3 times before arriving, and still encounter problem, waited for like 2hrs at the station for the shuttle. Other than that the service was good though not excellent. However, really like the hotel, the tub, the bath salt provided. Oso a good base to go yang min shan ( call uber it is...
Read morePhone manner with front desk is either terrible or not up-to-standard with international travelers' expectations. They seem to think guests should appreciate what's been offered, not what guests perceive or feels in actual settings. Guests were being taken advantaged as the quarantine requirement mandated by the local government; a bit treated like prisoner after the fact. When complaints were made upward into Manager Nico Wu, guests were rebuffed and told, "guests have choice not to visit us again". A personal experience given here; consider you've been warned. The selling point was about its hot-spring water; however its actually pretty bland. The online pictures show decent 4-star amenties; however outdated and washed-out is more like my feelings. I wouldn't call them hospitable; maybe more...
