山边咖啡 Brae Café — Restaurant in Beitou

This small and cute cafe lights things up a lot in Beitou, a place that's no culinary boomtown. I stumbled upon it after I've finished my lackluster meal and felt like going to a toilet and drinking something refreshing simultaneously. First I've just wanted to drop in and leave, but then the Taiwanese kindness crept in and I ended up spending an hour or so here.

Their banana smoothie (Xiang Jiao Niu Nai) is rich and smooth and contains just right amount of sweetness for me, even though I couldn't communicate to the propietors on this matter when I made an order. Their English may be meagre, but they've tried their best to communicate to me VIA Google Translate, and we ended up chatting some congenial dialogues.

There are also free purified water for refilling if you've ordered a menu with them. (I drank pretty much a lot!) E-payments (if you have a Taiwanese account) accepted, though not credit card, but the bills shouldn't...

It is little cafe which you can reach from Beitou Library - 10 min walk to the top. Overall the experience is good. Food and coffee are not bad. If you are in hurry then this place is not for you. You will need to wait for 20-30mins for foods as this cafe is managed by the lady boss alone. I can see she is very dedicated and she prepares the food seriously. Mostly self service system. Take a place to sit, grab the menu near the water/utensils area, order and pay. After food, give back the plates and cups to counter. We have dropped by during waiting for the famous ramen next door but gosh I prefer this restaurant 🍴

Firstly I didn't know there also are curry dishes here but it is one of the most outstanding curry rice I've ever had. Very very impressive indeed.

Another recommendation is homemade cake - so deliciously harmony. Not too plain, not too sweet, not too sour, not too oil, not too soil, it is simply right proportion of mixture.
