The beautiful Assembly Hall with it's Buddha Shrine and Murals depicting Buddha's life/teachings pushes this upto four stars for me. There is an interesting wooden building towards the rear of the site which was built originally as the monks residence but is now a museum, though closed when I visited. This site is open early, 5.00am and closes 8.00pm. The Ordination Hall here is also beautiful but as seems common at some other Temples, women are not...

Another well-kept, beautiful temple in Chiang Mai.

In the SE corner of the inner city, another 'free' temple worth visiting if you're in the area. A very well-kept temple, that was being tidied up by many novice monks when I visited.

Typically, a good main hall, with good interior paintings, good statues outside, and in this case, a lovely wall mural behind the main Buddha statues.

We visited Wat Sai Moon Muang during the Loy Krathong festival, and it was an unforgettable experience. The temple’s peaceful atmosphere, stunning Lanna architecture, and glowing lanterns made it feel truly magical. Unlike the crowded main spots, this hidden gem offered a more intimate and authentic celebration. A beautiful place to experience Chiang Mai’s culture...
