Advice to all customers here: check the bill closely. It seems the waiters wirte the check just by their memories. I ordered the chicken tom yam soup last night. I remembered its was 175 Baht but the check only written "tom yam soup $225". I checked the menu first and then I asked the waiter. He told me that I ordered the shrimp tom yam soup. I said "no, I ordered the chicken". Then he asked the waiter who ordered for me. She said " I asked you what would you like to add in the soup, you choosed the shrimp.", and saw me as a racketeer. The truth is SHE DIDN'T ASK ME ANYTHING! I ordered it by MYSELF! Because I'm ALLERGIC TO SHRIMPS! I am alert to everything I order and I eat ! But I just insisted that "No, I ordered the chicken, and you gave me the chicken soup. I didn't eat any shrimp in the soup." So they went back to the kitchen and check again. Finally proved that I was right. Until then they admitted the mistakes. 50 Baht is little money I can afford it. But I can't allow this kind of "fraud". If I didn't remember the price or I didn't look closely, maybe I would pay the bill. Because they don't write down the flavor you choose on the check. Besides, they suspected me in the first moment instead of checking themselves. I forgot I took the photos, but maybe even if I show the photos to them at that time, they would say the shrimp is hidden in the soup. I don't know. I ordered the tofu poh pia sod (150 baht), chicken tom yam soup (175 baht) and chicken phad thai (175 baht), the total price including 10% service charge is 550 baht. Two stars for the musician and the atmosphere. Food is normal. Bad service. Not...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the best restaurants in Chiang Mai that you must try when you are here! We have been to Dash many times over the past 10 years with local friends, family, and visitors and we just keep going back! The food is always amazing and we love all of the authentic Thai menu options (not tourist Thai or “westernized” Thai food) The menu does include some more “Western” options for those who might prefer that. The staff is very pleasant, and service is always excellent. The owner and his mother, who are both always visibly present and working to help the customers, have come to our table several times to express appreciation, take our orders for us, make sure that everything is perfect, and to thank us for supporting their restaurant! Both of them are super nice! I have messaged the owner before when we have needed reservations (sometimes within a day or two which can be difficult to get) and he always replies and tries his best to fit us in somehow, which we greatly appreciate. The courtyard outdoor seating is our favorite place to dine in good weather. Their menu is quite large and they will make almost anything vegetarian or vegan for you, if needed. (Since I am a vegetarian and my wife is vegan, that’s really great for us and our vegetarian/vegan friends that we take along with us) We always take our friends or family who are visiting Chiang Mai to this great restaurant, as it is a local icon. It just seems to keep getting...
Read moreMy wife and I first visited this restaurant towards the end of 2019 and couldn't wait to return. We finally made it back nearly 4 years later for my wife's birthday.
Sadly, after being seated we were completely forgotten about. Not even a drinks order was taken. After nearly 20minutes I had to get up and physically hunt down a waiter to take our order.
I must say our starters were delicious! Especially the pork roti rolls! For our mains we ordered Khao Soi with crispy pork - just like we'd done 4years ago. However, this time the crispy pork was not so crispy and quite dry and chewy.
After our plates were cleared we faced the same problem as we had faced when we were first seated. After waiting for close to 20minutes again, we had to get up and find a waiter ourselves just to ask for the bill. We had planned on having dessert and coffee after our meal but the moment had definitely passed.
I'd like to add that the restaurant was not especially busy and even even it was - this is no excuse for their lack of attentivness. As surely a restaurant's main goal is to be busy!
I must admit, it did pain me slighty to then notice a gratitury surcharge had been added to our bill. Solely out of principal - as our service was close to non-existant and we did a lot of the leg work ourselves!
Most of our food was good and the atmosphere was nice. However, it was the service, or lack thereof that really let Dash restaurant down on...
