We stayed in Pha Thai Boutique House for a three night break in October 2023.
Price wise, it's on a par with most places we've stayed. But quality wise, it's far less. From the outside, it's quite open plan, you walk through a nice path to get to the rooms.... Near the entrance is the pool. While the pool looks OK, it's only just got space to walk around. The sun loungers are set just a few seconds around the corner, and in the shade.
The room..... while it was pretty clean, it was quite small. The bed was the hardest I think I've slept on. All three mornings I woke up sore, after a very restless sleep. The television, was ancient. I bring my firestick to play music on Spotify, or watch a program before bed.... but due to no HDMI, that never happened. The balcony was about 2ft square, so hardly big enough to sit on. It was just ample to put wet clothes out to dry.
The bathroom..... really dark, dingy, and looked dirty. I've no doubts it was clean enough, but it was dark cream/tan coloured, and old fashioned terracotta coloured floor tiles on the floor. Very dated.
The positives.... the fridge worked OK once plugged in (we had to take the key off of the key card, and leave the key card in when we left the room in order for it to remain on) It had reasonable space to hang clothes for a few days. Towels were replenished daily, and bed made (although the cleaners started their schedule anytime from 9am, and weren't the quietest! Working together, laughing loudly, etc.) Also, there are two beautiful dogs who I believe stay there, but we also heard them barking on our first day, around 7am.
It had a small restaurant area downstairs (we were on level 1) that looked nice, but we never used it.
The reception staff were also quite friendly on our arrival. Nothing exceptional, but nice enough. (It sounds like a negative, but other places we have stayed whilst travelling have been very personal, friendly, and have made you properly feel at home, and get a good vibe about the place)
Overall, it's not a stay I particularly enjoyed. If you were desperate, or it was convenient, then by all means, you could spend a day or two here. You can use the pool, you could probably have a nice meal, etc.... it is also in a fine location, with bars and restaurants only minutes away.
If I were to come back to Chiang Mai (and I would, I loved the area, did the Elephant Sanctuary, went to a Thai Boxing event, etc...) I probably would look to stay elsewhere.

Read moreWhat a lovely accommodation in a beautiful Thai house with lots of atmosphere. The location is perfect. In the old town and close to the night market. You can walk to the pubs and loud noise while not being next to it for a good night's rest. Still you are surrounded by many small restaurants, travel agencies and massage salons.
The rooms are neat and clean. They have tea facilities but no tea (so buy your own). The standard rooms aren't that big. When travelling with a baby/toddler I'd recommend booking a bigger room. There are also family rooms available. Be aware that not all pictures are accurate when booking through agoda.
Staff is extremely friendly. They do their best to make your stay a comfortable one. Also their English is very good. We booked a room based on pictures on agoda, but it turned out to be smaller in real. They upgraded us with no extra charge, so we would have more space for our son.
I would stay here again. I didn't find the breakfast they provide (not free of charge) not that tasteful though. But there are enough options right...
Read moreI just had the most amazing stay at Pha Thai House Chiang Mai! I'm beyond thrilled with my experience.
The location of this hotel is just perfect. It's situated in a prime spot making it easy to get around and enjoy all that Chiang Mai has to offer. And despite being located in such a busy area, the hotel is surprisingly quiet, so I was able to get a great night's sleep every night.
But what really made my stay so incredible was the staff. They were some of the kindest, most helpful people I've ever met, and they went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable.
And on top of all that, the hotel offers incredible value for money. I was blown away by the quality of the accommodations and the amenities, especially given the affordable price point.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with my stay at Pha Thai House Chiang Mai. If you're looking for a fantastic hotel that's centrally located, quiet, and staffed by the friendliest people around, then look no further. This place is an...
