I was entertaining the idea of getting a tattoo while in Chiang Mai, but with the sheer amount of shops in the city, I hadn't a clue where to start. So I did the only thing I could, I went by portfolios. While walking down Loi Kroh road I came across Bloodline Tattoo, and their portfolio told me everything I need to know. Not only was it the best work I had seen in Chiang Mai, honestly it's some of the best work I've seen anywhere period. Matt, the shop manager, greeted me when I walked in and asked what I had been thinking of getting done. He immediately struck me as running a professional crew and tight ship. I did have a general idea in mind, but I wanted my artist, Yung, to have his creative freedom to be, well, an artist. We discussed a few ideas, I shot them a few pictures off of Pinterest to go on, and let Yung do his thing. After 4 days of 6 hours each day, I could not possibly be happier with the end result. It's better than I could possibly hope for. The shop environment was friendly and welcoming, and though I don't speak Thai that well, I found myself laughing with the rest of the shop with their jokes and conversations. The professionalism of the work is beyond question. There isn't a doubt in my mind where I'm going to return to to have more ink therapy done while in SE Asia. Amazing experience at Bloodline Chiang Mai. Research quite a few studios in the area and artists. Saw Bloodline was highly rated and looking at Yong’s work, decided I wanted to go in to speak with him. I first contacted Matt the Australian manager through Instagram and explain my idea, positing and dates ect. From the first message he was extremely helpful and invited me in for a consultation at a time that was suitable for me. After the consultation with Matt where I let him know more about what I wanted, sent over images and discussed tattoo location, I felt extremely happy and booked to meet with Yong - the artist a few days later. Meeting with Yong prior to tattoo day was brilliant. I felt comparable and extremely happy with the view of who the design would look, and both Yong and Matt spend the time adjusting the design until I was 100% happy. The next day I arrived for my appointment and the whole process took about 4 hours (1 hour prep, 3 hours tattoo time with a 5 minute break. Yong, thank you so much the tattoo is absolutely amazing and so much more than I could have imagined. Matt, you were so welcoming and helpful from our first contact. I can’t recommend Luke and Bombay at Bloodline Tattoo Chiang Mai enough.

Before coming here, I had been to a few other tattoo shops in Chiang Mai, and honestly, the experience was disappointing – the treatment, the atmosphere, and the quality of work just weren’t what I was hoping for. I was so close to giving up on getting my tattoo altogether.
