Department of Lands Museum — Attraction in Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang Subdistrict

Located in a couple of rooms upstairs in a non-descript office building. Only the main room was opened Monday when we rocked up; the second room, with air con and the large portrait of Rama V, is only opened sometimes (for real estate people who like to visit on auspicious dates, I was told).

From past photos and reports, it looks like it has been moved from its original, grander location and has seen better days, pre-covid. The long time curator, Bird, is trying his best to make the most of it. He's experienced and fun to talk to, though it helps if you know Thai.

We walked past the "closed for renovations" sign on the front door into a big room with assorted exhibits in glass cases. There's a lot of interesting historic stuff here, including the very first modern land title issued in Siam, and the title to Thailand's smallest land parcel (0.4 sq metres). You're not given a lot of contextual information in the form of signage, but there are QR codes you can scan on your phone for more.

Admission is free, and it's just across the road from Sanam Chai station and also near Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, so if you're in the area anyway and you are a history nerd, go check this museum out and show your support, and hopefully encourage the government to restore it to...

This place doesnt exist. I cant find any entrance to this museum. Based on google map, the entrance is from two rows of single storey however it is the dead end, i was very petrified. In actual fact, there is no signage at all. Please put up a signage if you are...
