My partner and I have just spent 2 nights staying at this lovely hotel. Situated opposite Wat Pho and only a 15 - 20 minute walk to The Grand Palace, we were able to achieve everything we wanted to in Bangkok whilst staying somewhere considerably quieter and away from the night life of Khao San Road. It is also only a 5 minute walk to get the ferry for 4 Baht to take a 2 minute ride across the river to Wat Arun (which we did). |We did visit Khao San Road at night to experience it but I’m glad we didn’t stay there. It is definitely worth a visit and we paid 80 Baht for a Tuk Tuk (100 on the way back). They will try and charge you 150 but you can easily get this down. ||There are some lovely quaint restaurants in the area and we had no trouble finding places to eat. But be aware that things shut early around here, generally between 20:30 - 21:30. We had a lovely roof top dinner at Chum Arun restaurant which overlooks the river and have us a stunning view of Wat Arun with a lovely sunset. You get 10% off the bill by staying at this restaurant, just make sure you go in and reserve as it is popular! ||I would really recommend this hotel if you want to experience the best of Bangkok but don’t want the rowdiness of night life. The hotel we very clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly...
Read moreGreat location and good place to enjoy the main tourist attractions We were there for two nights. Location is great and had rooms with a view of the Wat Pho temple. You get what you need. The building is locked by mid-night and was quite (most of the time) despite being next to Wat Pho. Very easy to pick up food – near by restaurants and street food vendors give you lot of choices from expensive to inexpensive. Places open up with traditional soups even from 7 AM. Cross the street to Wat Pho and 10min walk to Grand Palace, and Wat Arun ferry like 5 min away. Staff helpful most of the time. Enjoyed the surrounding more than anything else, place clean, free Wifi, no shoes inside (which I like) and very quite guests. Room 4 was the best with views and an attic with a Window. Room 1 has decent views but closer to the street.
First day got woken up at 3 AM – street cleaning people were making a lot of noises. Staff generally friendly but few appear to be non-genuine. One thing I noticed is the different treatment given for European looking tourists and non European looking. One European visitor wanted to get the boarding pass printed and no issue – email given and they said will print it. But for me no such treatment – take it to a shop to get printed. General comment we noticed same behaviour in...
Read moreThis is the second time we’ve stayed at this hotel and the level of excellence hasn’t changed at all over the year; perfection! The hotel is small and homey; you take off your shoes before entering the main rooms. Great location near to all the main attractions of old town Bangkok, plenty of eateries and riverside bars, and a very convenient 7/11 is about 1 minute walk away! Our room (city view) had a lovely view of Wat Pho and although there was a little noise from the road during the day, it’s very quiet at night (side note: be sure to walk around the grounds of Wat Pho at night - it’s free and gorgeous). No breakfast is included, but free bottled water is in your room every day. And the cafe attached to the hotel is an absolute bargain with lots of variety (the best Red Thai i've had in Thailand - £3 for a heaped plate)! Will be going back next year to the same hotel as it’s a great place to unwind for a few days before moving on to other places/counties (last year we used it as a place to relax before going around Thailand and Cambodia, this year we used it prior to travelling around Vietnam!) The only negative is that the bed is a little tough, but that’s fairly typical of Thailand! Also, the WiFi can be a little patchy but you’re on holiday so get off the WiFi...
