The Holy Rosary Church (Thai: āļ§āļąāļāđāļĄāđāļāļĢāļ°āļĨāļđāļāļāļĢāļ°āļāļģ), also known as Kalawar (āļāļēāļĨāļŦāļ§āđāļēāļĢāđ, from Portuguese: Calvario), is a Roman Catholic church in Bangkok. It is located in Samphanthawong District, on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River. The history of the church dates to 1769, when a group of Portuguese Catholics resettled in the area after the fall of Ayutthaya; the current church building, in Gothic Revival style, was built in 1891â97 on the site of two previous structures.

Anyway, it's quite an unusual building to see...

Some of the signage about the church history is badly translated to English but it gives you an idea of its interesting past. If the Catholic Church wants to keep & grow itâs followers it needs churches to be welcoming or at least not to be unfriendly, this place managed to at least to let you come in and do your thing...
