The MBK Center is a sprawling shopping complex that, unfortunately, offers little of value. Most shops are filled with knockoff goods and low-quality merchandise, making it a frustrating place to shop. The mall is also packed with tourists and questionable characters, creating an environment that feels uncomfortable and even unsafe at times. If you must visit, stick to the upper floors for slightly more reputable options. Rating: 1/5. Full Review: The MBK Center in Bangkok is often touted as one of the city’s must-visit shopping destinations, but after spending some time there, I can confidently say this mall does not live up to the hype. While it boasts an impressive 2,000 shops, it quickly becomes clear that the majority of these are filled with knockoff goods and low-quality items. The focus seems to be on vendors pushing counterfeit products—if this is your scene, you might find it interesting, but for anyone else, it's an overwhelming disappointment. The crowds only add to the problem. The mall is constantly packed, often with tourists and large groups of people huddled around specific stalls. Unfortunately, this creates an uncomfortable atmosphere, especially when you factor in the number of individuals looking to scam or pickpocket tourists. On more than one occasion, I witnessed groups of people casing tourists, attempting to swipe wallets, and creating a general sense of unease. If you do decide to visit, be extra cautious with your belongings—make sure your valuables are securely tucked away and keep a close eye on your things. As for the mall itself, the lower floors are best avoided entirely. They're crowded, poorly laid out, and dominated by the same cheap, low-quality goods. If you do find yourself at MBK, head straight to the upper floors where you can find slightly more reputable stores, a Yoshinoya, and a movie theater. These areas offer a bit of a reprieve from the chaos below, with a more manageable atmosphere and slightly better shopping options. In short, MBK Center is a place I would strongly recommend avoiding unless you're specifically hunting for cheap knockoffs or prepared to endure the chaos. It feels more like a tourist trap than a legitimate shopping destination, and for the price of the time and frustration it demands, you can easily find better malls in Bangkok with safer and more enjoyable experiences.

I’ve been to MBK Centre in Bangkok at least four times now (maybe more—I’ve honestly lost count!) and each visit has been for something different: souvenirs, children’s toys, grabbing a meal, or just browsing with no particular plan. Every single time, I’ve ended up buying something—whether it was clothes, Thai souvenirs, or far too many Dunkin’ Donuts. My first visit was in 2017, and most recently it was in September 2025. The mall itself is absolutely huge. It can feel a little overwhelming at first, and I remember struggling to find the elevators on our recent visit—ironically, my 4-year-old spotted them before I did! Once you know where they are, though, it’s much easier to get around, and they make the whole place accessible even with a double stroller. Years ago, I braved the escalators with a single stroller, so I can say from experience that the elevators are definitely the better option, though they can get busy so be prepared to wait a while for one empty enough for a pushchair. What I like about MBK is the mix: you’ve got international brands alongside little independent stalls, so you can bargain for souvenirs one minute and pick up familiar comfort food the next. It’s not the most glamorous mall in Bangkok, but it’s practical, lively, and full of variety. If you’ve got kids, a stroller, or just want an easy place to shop for a bit of everything, MBK is a solid choice. There is an increasing range of Thai clothing (think elephant trousers and crepe paper style kids dresses), souvenirs like ornaments and food stuffs, shoes, electricals and devices and suitcases. Honestly, there is SO much more than that but I usually do a floor or less at a time because my children are autistic and overwhelm easily. *Photos only from the most recent visit. I will add more soon. Find me on social media > @autismfamilytravelguide sharing all kinds of tips and tricks for travelling with a disability (especially autism).

MBK Center, or Mahboonkrong, is one of Bangkok’s most iconic shopping destinations. Located in the bustling Siam district, MBK Center has long been a favorite among both locals and tourists looking for a diverse and affordable shopping experience. Unlike some of the more upscale malls in Bangkok, MBK Center offers a unique blend of shops, stalls, and vendors that cater to a wide range of tastes and budgets.

The shopping experience at MBK Center is vast and varied. With over 2,000 shops spread across multiple floors, it’s easy to spend hours wandering through its maze-like corridors. The center is well-known for its extensive selection of electronics, including smartphones, accessories, cameras, and gadgets, often at competitive prices. Many shops offer repairs and second-hand goods, making it a go-to spot for tech enthusiasts and those looking for deals. However, it's important to exercise caution when buying electronics to ensure quality and authenticity.

In addition to electronics, MBK Center is also a great place for fashion. The mall features a mix of small boutiques and stalls selling everything from trendy clothing and accessories to traditional Thai silk. You can find a wide variety of items, from budget-friendly clothes and shoes to unique souvenirs. Bargaining is common in many stalls, especially those in the upper floors, adding a bit of excitement to the shopping experience.

MBK Center also boasts a diverse food scene, offering a variety of dining options that range from international fast food chains to local Thai eateries. The mall's food court, located on the sixth floor, is a particular highlight. It provides an excellent opportunity to sample authentic Thai dishes at reasonable prices, with everything from pad thai and green curry to mango sticky rice and fresh fruit smoothies. The food court has a casual, bustling atmosphere, making it a great spot to refuel during a day of shopping.

Beyond shopping and dining, MBK Center has entertainment options as well. The top floors house a cinema and a bowling alley, perfect for a fun break from shopping. There are also several arcades and game centers, offering something for visitors of all ages.

One of the key advantages of MBK Center is its convenient location. It's directly connected to the National Stadium BTS Skytrain station and is within walking distance of other major malls like Siam Paragon and Siam Center, making it easily accessible and an ideal stop on any shopping tour of Bangkok.

In summary, MBK Center is a lively and eclectic shopping destination that captures the essence of Bangkok’s vibrant retail scene. Its wide range of products, affordable prices, and diverse food options make it a great choice for both budget-conscious shoppers and those looking for a more casual, authentic shopping experience. Whether you’re hunting for electronics, fashion, or just a unique souvenir, MBK Center offers something...
